Jam-packed crowds press Grassley on health care (Seems "people are just very scared" Ya' think?)

PANORA, Iowa – Sen. Charles Grassley, a Republican who is a key bargainer on health care reform, played to packed crowds across the state who left little doubt that they are not happy with what's on the table.

The questions were tough but respectful, and there was little of the shouting that has dominated similar meetings in other parts of the country.

"It seems to me that people are expressing, not just on health care, but people are just very scared about the direction the country is taking," said Grassley, who emphasized that he hasn't signed off on anything.

At the same time, Iowans just might be less eager to yell and be rude. When one man in Afton asked Grassley why he was eager to change a health-care system that many Americans like, the senator started referring to a private conservation he had with a Democratic senator on Capitol Hill.

"Which one?" the man shouted.

"I can't tell you that," Grassley said.

"Why not?" the man snapped back.

"Because it was a private conservation," Grassley responded.

"Oh, okay," the man said, and let the senator finish.

The health care debate has blown the lid off and it's time to carry it through on this issue and every other similiar issue (like Cap & Trade, FOCA, etc.) that these wanna-be tyrants propose.

President Barack Hussein Obama said on August 7, 2009, that he expected the people who caused the financial and health care mess to be quiet, stand out of the way, and let it be fixed. Well, Mr. President, if you do not want the people who created this mess standing in the way of fixing it, then you, Mr. Obama...and Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank, et all had best step out of the way yourselves. Because you not only helped engineer the problems that ensured the fiasco...you are now intent on making it immeasurably worse in your drive towards abject marxism.

In order to hide this, and in an effort to push their monstrosity Health Care, the liberal-left and Obama seem intent on turning the frustration and angst of the American people over his policies into something more akin to Iran over this issue, with their own Basij thugs sent out to silence us, and Obama supporters called on by the Whitehouse to report any dissent.

MY LETTER TO THE WHITEHOUSE AND OBAMA ABOUT FREE SPEECH

Despite all this, the American people are downloading the Dem Health Care Plan HERE and elsewhere and educating themselves.

They are also reading the cited quotes of the main architect of the plan and Chief Advisor to Obama on Health Care HERE and elsewhere, and seeing the context of the plan from the designer of it.

So, when Sarah Palin callis it evil, they know for themselves that she speaks the truth.

So they continue to take their feelings...and their own documentation...to their reps and gett in their faces about it.

I hope he's smelling the roses.

Dems are hopeful Grassley will be on board.
If he’s not, if no R’s are on board, then Plan B is reconciliation.

There will be major HCR this fall. Dem’s hold ALL the cards.

We’re not “scared” - we think the health care plan sucks.

Yes, we're scared, we're terrified because you irresponsible creeps rubberstamp every bill that comes over your desk, even though they're hundreds of billions of dollars, without even reading them! You don't know or care how it will affect the American people, you just play your silly political games

What you need to do is to look deep in your heart to see if this is why you went into politics, to destroy your country.

“None of the bills in Congress would provide health insurance to illegal immigrants, but it didn’t keep people from expressing concern about it.”

The lying politicians and the press keep repeating this, but there is NO mechanism in the bill for checking citizenship when a person signs up for ObamaCare, so that is a moot point.
The people don’t trust government hacks for a very good reason.

Good deal. Keep the pressure on and bring as many people as you can find.

if any of them have a truck - tell em to bring the tar and feathers. ;-)

We all need to call, fax and get to the town hall meetings. Get in their faces.

I attended half of the meeting in Panora. Grassley said all the things stated in the full article. He was very well received and I heard nothing disrespectful.

It was obvious there were some in the room because they never applauded when everyone else was applauding but they never raised any kind of a scene.

Give the leftist the business. It is clear Grassley is on our side and doing the best he can.

The biggest threat from Grassley is that he will sign off on forcing people to buy insurance.

He's great on costs...holding Oshama's feet to the fire on making sure everything's paid for...but he waffles back and forth on mandating insurance.

[Grassley] emphasized that he hasn't signed off on anything.

My wife and I told him via email that he should vote NO on anything that expands government's role in health care, and absolutely NO PUBLIC OPTION. His response:

"Forty-seven million Americans"? C'mon, Chuck. Everybody with more than half a brain knows that's BS.

"Keep the health care arrangements they have if they want to"? Puh-LEEZE, Chuck! Surely you're not so naive as to think a public option won't kill off the private options!

Once upon a time, he was one of the most conservative Republicans in the Senate. I guess those days are long gone.

I’m so proud of all the regular (Republican) Americans going to these town hall meetings and taking on these communist/Marxist/Democrat tyrants who call themselves Senators and Congressmen. I will also try to do the same.

When will these morons read Friedman’s book “Free to Choose” to see that government ownership/socialism can never work.

The American people are winning now when I had long thought all was lost.

His response seems to have dodged the public option option.
