I'm agnostic as to the specific identity or identities of the creators of "Obama".
Whoever thought him up was VERY knowledgeable about us, our strengths and our weaknesses. I'm not sure a foreigner like Soros could have read us so well.
He's a player in the phenomenon, for sure, but mostly on the money end. The creative genius? I doubt it.
Finally, while I agree with you that Soros necessarily lacks the pedestrian touch he is a committed leftist right out of the Frankfurt school/Alinsky school of modern Marxism. Obama is a perfect fit for him. I think Soros wants the radicalization of America just as much as Obama does. Either one of them have an ounce of patriotic feelings for the country. Both have huge egos.
I think when historians write the book (that is if we have honest historians at that time) on the Obama administration we will find that there are many Democrats who are running scared right now and who are falling in line on a healthcare reform that they do not believe it out of fear of an organization created and controlled by George Soros.
