Personally, I have thought for years that most police chases should be banned. This is a case in point—7 people died because the police are chasing a person guilty of a traffic infraction? Good grief!
maybe come up with a technology that tags the car and monitor it with predator drones, and chase the car from a far distance until the car stop, then move in
I believe many of not most California cities do not chase for this very reason.
Yeah, that's right. Let them go. They are just lawbreakers.(/sarcasm)
7 people died because some idiot thought he/she could outrun the cop(s) and drove into a busy intersection without stopping, CRASH. You can commiserate and whine about it, but the facts aren't available, are they? Maybe the van was loaded with drugs? Maybe it was just carrying illegals. Inquiring minds don't really care a whit when idiots take themselves out. The unfortunates who were with them also paid the price, but the cops weren't the reason! Running away from the cops was...

Get ready to be labeled a ‘cop-hater’ Mark.
There is a device under development that is essentially a stun gun for cars. It backdoors a high energy magnetic pulse through the ground plane of the car and blows the ignition computer or the ignition system for carbureted cars.
In Fremont where I live a while ago. The police had a gadget that could turn the light in an intersection red. The fire department had it too.
The police in Fremont could have probably prevented this accident.
BTW - Fresno is pretty heavily infested with gangs.
I don't care what the Perp has done, you just can't chase them in the middle of town. This is a very predictable result and it happens all too often.
I like cops who solve crimes and help people, support them 100%.
I despise revenue agents in unmarked cars, pure scum in my book.
these chases are nothing more than state sponsored terrorism. Police need to focus on more effective, and smarter ways, as opposed to flashy chases.
Not saying that this was a chase of illegals, but it was California.
Just read the other day that GM's "OnStar" system now has a feature that allows OnStar,at the direction of the police,to slowly (and,it's claimed, safely) bring to a stop a car equipped with it that's involved in a police chase. And I know that there's at least one European car maker that has a feature that's basically the same as OnStar (same basic technology).
“The police acted stupidly.”
Will know what kind of fool drives around with kids exposed to this shortly.
Every officer who was involved should be charged with murder.
Hmmmmmm. Yea sure./sarc
These children got caught in the crossfire. Crossfire is a two way thing.
Maybe the van was loaded with drugs? Maybe it was just carrying illegals.
Is that worth 7 lives? Is it ok for the kids to die if it's about illegals? I don't think so. Maybe for the drugs /sarcasm
