West Point is also a lot harder to get into than Harvard or Princeton. Not only do you have to be a stellar student, a good athlete, and active in the community, you must have a recommendation from a congressman or senator.
West Point grads can typically write their own ticket after they graduate and serve their time in the Army (assuming they opt to move on to civilian life at that time). A West Point degree will get you virtually any job you want.

WEST POINT, N.Y. (Army News Service, Aug. 7, 200) - A report released Wednesday by Forbes magazine ranked the U.S. Military Academy as the top college in the country in their America’s Best College review.
“Marked by an intense work ethic and drive to succeed on all fronts, the West Point undergraduate experience also allows graduates to leave without a penny of tuition loans to repay,” Forbes stated in its release.
In the Forbes rating, West Point outpaced other highly-ranked schools such as Princeton (#2), Cal Tech (#3), Harvard (#5) and the U.S. Air Force Academy (#7).
“All of us at West Point are very proud that Forbes has rated us as the number-one college in the nation,” said Brig. Gen. Patrick Finnegan, dean of the Academic Board at West Point. “This ranking recognizes the exceptionally high quality of a West Point education. It is always exciting to be validated by independent organizations.”
The Center for College Affordability and Productivity staff gathered data from a variety of sources, basing 25 percent of the rankings on 7 million student evaluations of courses and instructors, as recorded on the Web site RateMyProfessors.com.
Another 25 percent of the ranking depended on how many of the school’s alumni, adjusted for enrollment, were listed among the notable people in Who’s Who in America.
The other half of the ranking were based equally on three factors:
• average amount of student debt at graduation held by those who borrowed
• percentage of students graduating in four years
• number of students or faculty, adjusted for enrollment, who have won nationally competitive awards like Rhodes Scholarships or Nobel Prizes.
West Point was founded in 1802 as America’s first college of engineering. Its mission remains constant: to educate, train, and inspire cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of duty, honor, country and prepared for a career of service to the nation as an officer in the U.S. Army.

Good. I know people who have gone to Harvard, Stanford, etc., and they are no smarter than the average person. They do, however, have an entitlement attitude that I cannot stand to be around.

USMA, you can’t beat it. The cadets are totally motivated, high academic grades and physical fitness are the major deciding factors to get in. You don’t have to be rich to get in, and its a free education when you graduate, no loans to pay off. Its a school you really must have the desire to attend. You will giving up some of your freedom for 4 years but you will never regret the years you spent there. I had 3 nephews graduate from there. They didn’t make a career of the Army and they are certainly not hurting facially. I would also place the USAFA and Annapolis in the same category.

Well, I expect liberals to have a meltdown over this.
First of all, too many liberals loathe the military, so by definition, how can a univeristy which trains military officers be worthy of recognition?
Secondly, due to the ongoing liberal anxiety about don’t ask / don’t tell, any institution which “discriminates” against homosexuals is not worthy of recognition.
I still can’t believe that one of the county supervisors in San Francisco says we don’t need a military. Even Alan Colmes was dumbfounded when told by that Frisco guy that in case of terrorist attack or invasion, that our local police departments will defend us.
Libs have a hate envy of the Military. They cannot access it because it is stringent. Yet it is the very stuff which makes the details of war a potential criminal issue that has them get secret orgasms over US soldiers. Look at them criminalizing every single aspect of our lives in Congress through Globowarming and healthcare, and you can understand their self hate.
Plus they learn to stay civil in real matters of life and death... instead of prancing around like a drama-fag Zero, making a criminality out of every ant or hair up his arse.

The military academies are all excellent, but this is a relative ranking and is more about slipping standards at the Ivy League schools than anything else.
But their overall methodology is ridiculous. They give 25% weight to students’ ratings on ratemyprofessor.com. That is a site where people go to complain about professors that grade too hard.
The professors who garner positive ratings are those who are attractive, young, charismatic, and teach easy-A classes. Period. They literally ask contributors to rate their professors “hot or not”. I wouldn't for a second consider that site's ratings when deciding the right college for my child. Never.
But they don’t learn to craftily trash the Constitution and our founders there yet. They have not become “progressive” doncha know? Moreover, they don’t have any “philosopher” explaining how killing the old is gooood.
