Here in the Central Valley of California we have one of the only county hospitals left in the country. We also have one of the highest numbers for illegal aliens in the country.
Our county hospital’s emergency room has a wait of 5-9 hrs. That is in an emergency room. Of course all the illegals use it as their main doctors office since it is free.
This is our future for ‘free’ healthcare.
And oh yeah, this hospital runs in the red year after year. It is nothing but a black hole sucking in taxpayer dollars.

What you describe is not so very different from here. I work for a healthcare co-op with occasional waits of 2-3 hours. When people get mad and leave, they may not realize the next stop on their list at the local ED is a 6-8 hour wait, depending on their triage.

Still this is nothing compared to what is in the future for us and for our children. The latter is what breaks my heart and has prompted me to look into international moves.
