If you look at the actual marriage patterns, monarchical spouses in the last century have been only distantly related, if at all: and it's many generations since the British monarch married anybody as close as a first cousin.

I realize that there isn't that much inbreeding among the royals today. It was a cheap shot on my part. It was that only someone that was born into wealth and prestige telling the rest of us about the dangers of consumerism sounds has if he were the product of inbreeding.
