"A community organizer can't start bitching when communities organize."
"Barack Obama said the best education he ever had was community organizing for ACORN, that it was the highest good of public service -- and he's now trying to swat down citizens who have grievances over his health care plan? Of course. Because he's a statist."
"The president of theUnited States is running ads referring to 52% of the American people as a 'mob'.
Now, this is beneath the dignity of the White House.
It's typical of the Democrat Party, but it is beneath the dignity of the Oval Office."
"The Democrats know exactly who you are, and that's what scares them.
They know you are not one of their own 'mobs'.
They know you are genuine, they know you are real, they know your roots grow grass.
Their roots grow Astroturf."
"I'm going to issue a challenge here to all these people at the DNC:
I want you to give us the name of one person who has been hired by a lobbyist working for an insurance company to show up at these town hall meetings.
Give us the names!
Tell us which insurance companies are putting this together!"

"You know, I just had a sudden flash. We need a new merchandise line at the EIB store: mob clothes. The mob wardrobe. Mobwear. You know, to go along with our thriving merchandise business at Club Gitmo. Oh, well. I'll think about it." |

Continually repeat ... It's not about me. I'm the President. |
To be added or removed from the "Rush In A Hurry" Ping List, FReepmail GOP_Lady.
You know, Obama may well be, folks, destroying the Democrat Party. He may well be. We will know soon enough. I've been thinking about this. The Democrat Party leadership is hard left-wing, including Obama, Pelosi, Reid, but much of the Democrat Party grassroots is not. The entire Obama agenda is aimed specifically at doing the bidding of trial lawyers and public sector union bosses. That's what this whole agenda is about, trial lawyers and public sector union bosses, not union members. If you take a look at any of the agenda items, you see all of the sops being thrown to the trial lawyers and the public sector union bosses, the two largest contributors to Obama, and they are not popular. Those two groups are not popular with average ordinary Americans. Trial lawyers and these public sector union bosses are not popular at all. Now, the Democrat Party leadership is hard left-wing. It's the most radical left this Democrat Party has ever produced, both in the White House and the leadership positions in the House and Senate. The left-wing of the Democrat Party controls its mechanisms, but the voters are not all Pelosi and Obama ideologues.
I've been asking this question since, well, a long time after the stimulus was put in place and it's not doing anything and Obama's out in Elkhart, Indiana lying about it again today, about how great the economy is, the recession's over and yet Procter & Gamble's laying off some more people, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is laying off 92 people. The unemployment is probably higher than what it's going to be reported, and even with the media cronies, the State Controlled Media, it's a comedy. It's almost a malpractice the way they are reporting unemployment numbers as though it's good news that only 392,000 people lost their jobs. And then they bury the fact that planned layoffs, future firings are rising. There's no end to this and average ordinary Americans know it. The average ordinary grassroots Democrat is not all Greenpeace, not all job destroyers, not all destroy healthcare leftists. It really is a minority of people that are this radical, but they have secured leadership positions in the government.
What the State Controlled Media is not reporting is that it's the Democrat Party that is marginalizing itself. It is the Democrat Party that is not reaching the middle class and the independents. The Democrat Party is holding them in contempt. The Democrat Party has got policies in place that are destroying their own voters, via the economy and a number of other things. Now, I know some of their voters are welfare state people and they're happy, but I say all this based on a continued optimism and faith and a decency of the American people. The Democrat Party has become a narrow ideological party. Now, this is important. The Democrat Party, the leadership of the Democrat Party represents an ever-shrinking percentage of the population. The American people, I'm convinced, I still remain convinced of this, and Snerdley is looking at me with doubt on his face. And I imagine many of you are hearing me with doubt, but I want you to trust me on this.
The American people are, at their core, liberty loving, competitive, innovative, and independent. And that is why this is important. This is why Obama and Pelosi have to lie about what they're doing. They have to lie about saving jobs, they have to lie about what cap and trade is. They have to lie about the deficits. They have to lie about their health care bill. They have to lie about what they're actually trying to do, about all of these things because at its core the American people would reject it all. They are using the tactics of Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals. You don't speak outside the comfort level or the experience level of your audience. This is a competitive people. These are people at their core, the American people, liberty loving, competitive, innovative and independent. The Democrats use the language when lying about their initiative in order to reach that core group. They are lying to them.
Obama's gotten away with fooling them, or did. There's a great story from The Politico that I've got in the stack coming up, and it's about loyalty. When I read the story it made me really appreciate all of you again. I mean, I never lose my appreciation for you, but it just, it brought it into focus. The whole thing is how loyal are Obama's voters going to be? How loyal will they remain with him? I mean, he had them as a cult before the election and before the imaculation, but how loyal will they be? And at its core this country rejects Obamaism, at its core. Mr. Snerdley, this is so plain as day, I don't know why I didn't come up with it sooner. Why do they lie? Why can't they be honest? Why can't they say, "Yes, you're going to lose your private insurance"? Why can't they say, "Yeah, we're going to ration care"? It's not what people want. The American people do not want an all-powerful socialist government. This is why they have to lie. This is why they're ramming it down people's throats even though a majority of people don't want it.
This is a narrow ideological party that has secured the leadership of this country. They are led by people who spend their every waking moment conspiring against the public and lying to the public. When Obama gets together with his staff to plan one of these trips to Indiana like today, you think they sit there and say, "Okay, we've got to tell the truth about this and we've got to tell the truth about that." No. They plot, "How do we fool them today? How do we lie to them? We'll use their language, we'll use the language that they understand, that they think is traditional American in its concept," and they'll apply their ideas to those concepts and lie through their teeth. They have to lie because the country would reject all of this if they were told up-front what is happening.
So where are we? Well, we get to the latest round of this: Attack the insurance companies; attack the attendees at town hall meetings. You know how Barbara Boxer says she knows that they are all manufactured? Because they are too well dressed. They are too well dressed to be real Americans, to be genuine protesters, they're too well dressed. She said the same people that told her to get out of Florida during the recount in 2000 were dressed the same way and that was a mob. So we get the attack on the insurance companies from a uniter, a man who is going to unify us, be post partisan, be above all this. We have attacks on the American people who are doing exactly what this man did in his only real experience in life and that's community organizing. We got some incredible sound bites coming up on today's show from the past that will illustrate just who this man is again in his own words.
But you have a man who is attacking, and his party are now attacking and they are running ads attacking American citizens. They know that they are not held in high regard. They don't care. They are finding ways to ram it down everybody's throats. They are making wild, irresponsible promises about government healthcare while claiming not to be promoting government -run healthcare. They keep legislation secret until the last minute. They don't get specific about what drugs and treatments and procedures will or will not be covered. They send Kathleen Sebelius out to the op-ed pages of the Washington Post to say, "Don't worry about the details. We're just trying to get you peace of mind. We don't want you to have to worry about it anymore. Don't worry about the details." Again the Democrat leadership must do these things because it is a narrow ideological party that claims to be otherwise while trying to advance its radical agenda as fast as possible before more and more Americans see it for what it is.

They are out there hearing what people are saying. The American people, I read some place today, I'll find it in the stack here. The American people don't do DC speak. These people at these town meetings are not used to being talked to this way, but what they're hearing is American English. Good old fashioned American English. The people that don't live in DC don't have and don't use DC speak. Now, these Blue Dogs running this scam will have no place to hide anymore, doing one thing in Washington and another thing back home. Ask Republicans who lost elections in 2002, 2004, 2006 about campaigning one way and governing another. You Blue Dogs are about to see your last days if you vote for this bill. If you encourage what is nothing more than a giveback and a throwback to trial lawyers and public sector union bosses. If you favor the trial lawyers and the public sector union bosses over your own constituents and side with the radical leaders of your party, you are finished in 2010.
If you vote for the most radical expansion of the federal government in history and you vote to deny your constituents of liberty and free choices, then you can't get away campaigning any longer as a moderate or as a centrist or as an independent or as a fiscal conservative because you, you Blue Dogs, if you vote for this, you will become part of the problem. You will become, with that vote, part of big government, part of the hard left. Regardless how you spin it, regardless what you say in your next campaign ads. So the Blue Dog Democrats who do not come from the big cities, they do not come from inner city suburbs. They come from outer suburbs and rural areas. They are going to have to make a choice: Either they represent the people or they throw in with Obama and Pelosi and the trial lawyers and the public sector union bosses, and then you're going to have to answer to your voters.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: I want to go back and I want to play this montage that we played right before the end of the previous hour about the Democrat talking point now on the mob showing up at all of these town hall meetings.
MATTHEWS: Well-dressed, middle class people in pinks and limes, the Brooks Brothers brigade.
BOXER: The last time I saw well dressed people doing this was when Al Gore asked me to go down to Florida when they were recounting the ballots and I was confronted with the same type of people.
LLOYD DOGGETT: Like that crowd of Republican staffers that showed up for Bush against Gore down in Florida. It's the same kind of approach.
RACHEL MADDOW: It's the Brooks Brothers riot from Florida 2000.
RUSH: Now, Brooks Brothers. The sad fact is that if we let this administration get away with what it wants to get away with, all of us are going to be getting our clothes from Goodwill and the Salvation Army. Nobody's going to be able to afford to go into Brooks Brothers except Michelle and Barack. And by the way, speaking of Brooks Brothers, isn't it Michelle who got some sort of a designer fashion award for the wardrobe that she has made popular? I don't know who gave her the award, but she has and now Brooks Brothers brigade, when we're all headed for Goodwill and the Salvation Army?
Telephone number is 800 282 2882 if you want to be on the program, 1 800 282 2882.
I have two treatments here from CNN and Reuters: "The number of U.S. jobs lost in the private sector fell in July but firms increased planned layoffs, data on Wednesday showed, suggesting the labor market remained troubled even as the pace of job losses slowed." Is this a comedy? You know, I just had a sudden flash! We need a new merchandise line at the EIB store up at RushLimbaugh.com. Mob clothes. The mob wardrobe. Mobwear. Mobwear officially available at you know, the problem is, to do this, it would take three weeks to get a design, get a prototype and all that. I'd like the official mobwear to come from my website, you know, to go along with our thriving merchandise business at Club Gitmo. Oh, well. I'll think about it.

RUSH: We'll start in West Union, Illinois with Dianne. Thank you for calling. Thanks for waiting. Great to have you here.
CALLER: Oh, great to... (cell drops). I'm so angry. I mean, I've been upset before about this but now I'm just so angry about this commercial. They are just treating us as just mindless people working for insurance company, lobbyists. I mean, we are citizens expressing our rights. Are we just supposed to sit idly by while they try to get our parents to die --
RUSH: You are supposed to no.
CALLER: -- because they know what to do, know what's good for us?
RUSH: You are supposed to get bad, exactly what you're doing.
CALLER: The people, the citizens, they need just to get up off their hands and express their opinion.
RUSH: They are!
CALLER: Don't, don't... I mean, everybody. They can't just sit there and say, well, it's all going to work out and then wonder why later on. You know, every... (cell drops). Which is against (cell drops) We just can't continue letting this administration get away with it. They say he's going to go down as, you know, the most popular president. But he's also -- him, his administration, any governor, any senator that votes for this -- are going to go down as most despised people, ever.
RUSH: That's exactly right. That's what I've been saying all morning, or afternoon. The Blue Dog Democrats have got a big decision to make here. This is the kind of emotion that's out all over the country. The president of the United States and his party are attacking the people who make this country work. Grab audio sound bite number 1. Listen to the ad. If you missed it, this is what she's talking about it. Audio sound bite number 1.
AMERICAN CITIZENS: (chanting) Just say no! Just say no!
(cheesy dramatic music)
AMERICAN CITIZENS: (chanting) Just say no! Just say no!
DNC ANNOUNCER: The right-wing extremist Republican base is back. They lost the election. They lost on the Recovery Act, the budget and children's health care. They've lost the confidence of the American people after eight years of failed policies that ruined our economy and cost millions of jobs.
AMERICAN CITIZENS: (chanting) Just say no! Just say no!
DNC ANNOUNCER: Now, desperate Republicans and their well-funded allies are organizing angry mobs -- just like they did during the election. Their goal? Destroy President Obama and stop the change Americans voted for overwhelmingly in November.
DEMINT: It will break him.
RUSH: I hope he fails!
DNC ANNOUNCER: They have no plan for moving our country forward, so they've called out the mob.
RUSH: The mob. You are the mob. The mob is tort lawyers and public sector union bosses who paid for that ad, for the Democrat Party to be able to call you a mo -- a mindless, brainless mob wearing Brooks Brothers clothes. Remember, they have to lie to you in order to have any hope of getting you to support their agenda. The thing is Obama's lobbying the wrong people. Obama needs to be lobbying Democrats in Congress. They are the only ones that can stop this. By doing what he's doing, he is arousing an opposition and a passion and a patriotism and an anger at him and his party. He may very well be destroying the Democrat Party. We'll know in not too long a time. Jim in Chicago, great to have you, sir. Welcome to the EIB Network.
CALLER: Hello, Rush.
RUSH: Hi.
CALLER: I wanted to talk about the... I wanted to compare Obama's leadership to Lech Walesa and Nelson Mandela. They were two very popular activists in their countries. People loved them like crazy and eventually they became head of state, and they just didn't have the skills to do it. And I think Obama's in the same mode as those two guys.
RUSH: Well, give me the similarities between Obama and Mandela.
CALLER: Well, I can't give you specifics but just in a general rule especially the main guy I know about, of course, is Obama, you know, living here with him. He seems to be unable to wear the hat of the manager or the corporate person. He can't relate to them as well as he relates to the activist.
RUSH: Well...
CALLER: I had experience as a chief union steward for a while, and I know that there were certain stewards on our committee who couldn't relate to the managers' needs and what they had to do when they were managers.
RUSH: Well, now, that's an excellent point. Obama cannot relate to an average person. He has no clue. He is above them! He is an elitist. He holds average people in contempt. He looks at them as stupid and malleable. He can make them do and think and believe anything he wants. I have a question: Will Obama and the DNC -- and will Pelosi and will Reid and all Democrats -- be returning contributions to their PACs from insurance companies? Or contributions their campaigns received from executives and employees? You know we can find out. I just saw a list of people that work at Brooks Brothers and who they donated to. There are very few Democrats. It's interesting. I'll bet you Brooks Brothers was chosen precisely because they don't have a whole lot of executives (I could find anyway) who have donated to Democrats. Schumer got some money and Specter, who is now a Democrat. But if the insurance companies are these big demons are the Democrats -- Obama, Pelosi, Reid, the whole party -- going to have their political action committees return all the donations they've gotten from insurance companies and insurance company executives? Of course they won't. Jim, thanks for the call.

RUSH: Don in Philadelphia, you are next on the EIB Network, sir. Hello.
CALLER: Hey, Rush, it's a tremendous honor to speak with you.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: I'm one of the Brooks Brother organizers of the protest rally at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia against Obamacare that was actually a town hall meeting, Specter's town hall meeting featuring Kathleen Sebelius.
RUSH: Right.
CALLER: I have to tell you I think one of the most insulting aspects of this whole thing is the idea that it is not coming from the grassroots. We weren't working with any national organization. We called for this. We initiated this protest via our organization, Independence Haul Tea Party Association which was formed right after the April tax week tea parties.
RUSH: Let me tell you something, Don. Let me tell you something.
CALLER: Mmm-hmm?
RUSH: They know this. They know it. They know exactly who you are and that's what scares them. They know you are not one of their own mobs. They know you are genuine. They know you are real. They know your roots grow grass. Their roots grow Astroturf. They know everything, and everybody in your group is real. That's why they are out tarring and feathering and trying to impugn you because you are real. They are not real. They know exactly who you are. You ought to be outraged that the president of the United States is trying to discredit a majority of American citizens and have the rest of the country think that you are something that you are not when it is his group, ACORN, that does exactly what he's accusing of you doing.
He's the agitator! He's the one that said, "If they bring a knife, we bring a gun." He's the one that told his supporters, "I want you to get in their face and argue with them." He's the guy that inspires the kind of behavior he wants people to think you're engaged in. They know damn well you're showing up because you're ticked off at the substance of what he's trying to do and that you're more informed than these buffoons that he's sending out to defend it. You notice he won't defend it personally? You notice he won't have a debate? Mr. President, let's have a debate about single payer. Let's have a debate about it. He will not debate anybody to specifics. He goes out, speaks in platitudes like a gutless wonder, and sends all these other people out there to take the arrows.
Sebelius has to go out there and take the arrows. Biden has to go out there and take the arrows. Specter has to go out there and take the arrows. While he's out there in Elkhart, Indiana lying to people whose town has been destroyed because of his policies! They're the RV capital and this is the guy that wants RVs in a river! They know exactly who you are. They know exactly who every one of the opposition is -- and their means, their intention is to get you off the playing field. Not to debate you. Not to engage you and try to persuade you. Obama clears the playing field, but he won't even have the courage to debate this with people. He gets stacked audiences that State Run ABC gives him in the White House for an infomercial on his healthcare plan and all he does to deflect the criticism is tell people things which aren't true about his plan.
If there's any "disinformation" on Obamacare, it's coming right from him and the Democrat Party. He is saying, for example, that there will be no end to private insurance. You like your insurance? You'll be able to keep it. We just want another competitor out there, the government, that will keep these evil insurance companies in line, take away some of their immoral profits and yet Barney Frank and Jan Schakowsky and a bunch of other Democrats are running around happily talking about how they can't wait to get the single payer and how the strategy is to make it happen. You've got to go public option first and then you've got to let people keep their insurance for a while but one slight change and they are finished! They have got to go public option!
And then all businesses who want to offload their healthcare will force you to go public option. That's exactly what they want. They want to kill the market. They don't want to compete with it. Obama's whole strategy is kill the opposition, clear the playing field. In a political sense, folks, but he wants to kill off private insurance. He wants to kill it. And he knows -- we've got tape; we played it -- he can't do it right off the bat. It may take ten years, but that's the goal. That's the objective. He knows damn well you know this. He knows damn well that you genuinely oppose it. The president of the United States, who is president of all of us, has decided to take aim at over half of the American people as political opponents. He is not even wasting his time on Republicans. He's going after average citizens -- and these Blue Dog Democrats, they better be paying attention. If they go along... They're running a scam on everybody trying to tell us they are "fiscal conservatives."
If they vote for this, there is nothing fiscally responsible about it much less conservative. If they vote for this, they're no different than the average leftist leaving the House of Representatives. Expansion of government, loss of liberty, loss of freedom. That's not what the people who elected them thought they were -- and you Blue Dogs, I tell you, if you want to find out what happens to people who promise one thing in a campaign and go to Washington and govern in a totally different way, go call the Republicans who lost House races in '04, '06 and '08. You talk to them and find out why they lost. They didn't govern as they promised. They didn't govern and represent the people who sent them there -- and the Blue Dogs, you people are facing the same situation. Who do you want to side with? Do you want your buddy to be Pelosi, the tort lawyers and the public sector union bosses, or do you want your friends to be your constituents?

CALLER: Hello, Rush. Love your show.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: I was reading yesterday your recent Limbaugh Letter, which is excellent, and your interview with I think Mr. Ledeen. And he or you made the point that the Japanese attacking the United States was really the event that got us into the war and in effect saved the world, so to speak.
RUSH: Right.
CALLER: Isn't what's going on right now with the overreach by Obama and the left-wing, left-wingers in Congress, isn't maybe this the attack on the economy that's going to wake us all up?
RUSH: I think it's a combination of things that are going to wake us all up. What he is talking about is I talked to Michael Ledeen, the interview for the current issue of the Limbaugh Letter and, you know, we're talking about Iran and how we're going to stop Iran. What's going to happen to stop Iran? We're just, the news is and I haven't even talked about this the last couple of days because we're trying to save our economy and country right now on the domestic side. But the chief Mullah, the chief Ayatollah, Ayatollah Khomeini, apparently they are just waiting forward word from him to go nuke up. And they have we have the US intelligence report this thing that people put out -- not from the White House; it's prepared for the president that said back in 2006 I think it was (or maybe 2007) that there was no nuclear program but it was made out like Bush was lying about that again and Cheney was lying about that.
It turns out that's not true, of course. So Ledeen was saying I was asking him -- "What's going to stop this? Are we going to have to get engaged military? He said, "No. We don't move until we have to, Rush. It's the history of the United States," and he said, "What got us into World War II? It wasn't what Hitler did. If it was just contained to Hitler, we probably wouldn't have done anything. And when the Japanese attacked us, we had no choice -- and then we had to get involved everywhere." So I said, "Well, what's the equivalent of that vis a vis Iran?" He says, "I don't know; we're just going to have to wait and see," but he was saying he was not confident that there's anybody in this country with the courage to do anything to stop them from becoming a nuclear power. So the analogy therefore is the American people are being awakened, and they are being awakened not just by the destruction of the economy. They are being awakened because they are finally seeing the real Barack Obama -- and it's nothing like the man they thought they elected. This is an utter cold, mean spirited, partisan liar.
A man who has to lie about his agenda in order to get people to support it because he can't be honest. This is why the Democrat Party will eventually implode and fail. They cannot be honest about what their intentions are. They cannot be honest about policies at all. They have to lie. You often hear people complain, "Republicans don't have any strategy. Oh, the Democrats have a strategy. They are always doing, they are always in motion. Why don't Republicans?" Very simple. The Republicans make the mistake and it is a mistake in our culture these days of relying on facts. They think the power of facts will overwhelm and win the day. We're up against a bunch of people who are lying through their teeth, sounding not that much different from Republicans, when their agenda's 180 degrees different but their strategy is to lie and to fool and to get somebody as a candidate who is a smooth talker and speaks in platitudes and comes off as Messianic. Not only does he lie, he sounds excellent doing it. He sounds trusting and confident, educated, smart -- "clean" as Biden said. But it's going to implode because people are awakening now.

AP: Ahmadinejad Sworn in as Iran President Amid Crisis American Enterprise Institute: The Iranian Time Bomb - Michael A. Ledeen |
"Obama told a gathering of community that the federal government would distribute $2.4 billion in 48 taxpayer grants to create next-generation electric cars and recreational vehicles. The grants will be divided among 25 states." That's unleashing prosperity for everybody, $2.4 billion in grants to create electric cars and RVs? That's unleashing prosperity for everybody? If Obama were truthful, what he would say is, "My health care plan is going to remove your private insurance. You are going to have to join the government plan. We are going to have counselors for you after you pass a certain age to counsel you on your end of care which will lead to your end of life."
If he were honest he would say, "Our stimulus plan will not create any jobs. Only 4% of it's been spent and most of it has gone to the states to help them with their deficits. Our stimulus plan never was about creating jobs. Our stimulus plan was about stimulating my party." But Obama can't say that. He has to say -- in the midst of destroying the greatest economy in the history of human civilization -- that he's going to "unleash prosperity for everybody, not just some." He hasn't the power to "unleash prosperity for everybody, not just some." Prosperity has to be earned. He cannot grant it. He cannot promise it. A couple of sound bites from this soiree today. Here's the first.
OBAMA: The Elkhart area has experienced the second greatest increase in the rate of unemployment in the country, up 10 points in a year. It's a -- a-stonishing statistic, and there have been times where nearly one in five people in this area have been looking for work. You've seen factories close and your sons and daughters move away in searches (sic) of jobs and opportunity. So this is more than an economic crisis. This goes to the heart and soul of a community. Our ability to recover and to prosper as a nation depends on what happens in communities just like this one. The battle for America's future will be fought and won in places like Elkhart, in Detroit, in Goshen, in Pittsburgh, in cities and towns across the Midwest and across the country that have been the backbone of America.
RUSH: Uh... (sigh) I don't know where to start. He's talking to people in a community that have no hope because the "backbone" of their community is a vehicle he intends to disallow down the road. Unnecessarily. Yeah, they've seen factories close. They've seen people move away in searches of jobs and opportunity, all during his administration -- and not just during but because of his administration. But he promised "to unleash prosperity for everybody, not just some." So words are the tools to make you not believe the actions that are actually happening to you. He's simply using words he knows people want to hear.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: One more Obama audio sound bite from this afternoon in the Elkhart, Indiana area.
OBAMA: We won't just rescue the economy, but we're going to rebuild it stronger than before. Now, there are a lot of people out there who are looking to defend the status quo. There are those who want to seek political advantage. They want to oppose these efforts. Some of them caused the problems that we got now in the first place, and then suddenly they're blaming other folks for it. They don't want to be constructive. They don't want to be constructive, they just want to get into the usual political fights back and forth, and sometimes that's fed by all the cable chatter on the media.
RUSH: So here's a man who says there are a lot of people out there who are looking to defend the status quo. Let me tell you who's defending the status quo. Barack Obama's defending the status quo. The status quo is a shrinking, contracting economy. There is no expansion. There is no rescue. There is no recovery. There is no prosperity. All by design. Nobody's standing up for this. None of his political opponents are saying this is what we want. He is saying this is what we want. He is saying this is what we're going to have. It is Barack Obama who is a partisan politician from morning until night, 24/7. Barack Obama's party is running TV ads impugning decent Americans for showing up and protesting his socialized medicine plan. Typical argument, straw dog here. There are people that want this? People that want this? "We're going to not just rescue the economy. We're going to rebuild it stronger." Where? When are you going to start? Do you even know how to do it? Do you even want an economy stronger than we ever had? It's my contention if he did, he wouldn't be doing what he's doing.
"A lot of people out there are looking to defend the status quo." The only people I see defending it are you, Biden, Larry Summers, that idiot Orszag. Who else went out there? Romer. The people I see defending this mess is you! The people defending this mess, Harry Reid, the people defending this mess, the union bosses. The people defending this mess are the tort lawyers. The people defending this mess are its architects. The people defending this mess are the people who have made it. Have you heard one Republican stand up and say, "This is what we want; we've got to stop Obama because we want it right now." There are people who don't want their healthcare to get worse. They want to preserve it. That's why they're showing up in droves.

RUSH: Here's David Axelrod from February the 12th of this year.
AXELROD: Well, it can drive "a" White House.
WOMAN: (giggling)
AXELROD: It may not drive ours. We try and keep our heads about us and, uhhh, pursue what we think is the appropriate strategy and that's what we're going to do here.
RUSH: He was asked the following question: "Would you agree a one-day drop in the market, one-day story can drive the news, drive the White House?" "Well, it can drive a White House. It may not drive ours." The stock market is a tracking poll. We don't pay much attention to it.

RUSH: A "community organizer" cannot complain when communities organize, yet that is exactly what is happening. The community organizer-in-chief is all bent out of shape because people are organizing against him and against his lies and against his policies. July 23rd of 2007, Barack Obama said that it was a qualification to be president to be a community organizer. Now his White House and his party is attacking communities of Americans, organized and otherwise. Are you kidding me? This was the badge of honor! That's the sum total of his career, other than 150 days in the Senate. This is what Barack Obama said was the best education he ever had was community organizing for ACORN. It was the highest good of public service -- and he's now trying to swat down citizens who have grievances? Of course! Because he's a statist. He's an authoritarian. Here is a new Democrat National Committee ad targeting the protestors of Barack Obama. You'll hear Senator DeMint and me in the ad.
RUSH: I predicted this. You are a mob. This is the president of the United States who ran as a unifier. He has now resorted to nothing more than a raw political campaign, as president, against a majority of the American people who oppose him. The president of the United States is running ads referring to 52% of the American people as a "mob." This is beneath the dignity of the White House. It's typical of the Democrat Party, but it is beneath the dignity of the Oval Office.
Henry Waxman was on the Daily Show last night. They had this exchange, Jon Stewart and Henry Waxman, about town hall protestors -- and, of course, me.
STEWART: You have the overwhelming majority now. Can't you get something that is condensed a little bit more clearly and concisely so that you can sell it? Because without that you've got town halls where the people come and they shout and they are not saying anything other than, "Hey, we're -- I'm mad."
WAXMAN: That's not spontaneous. People show up in an organized way often sponsored by the Republican party or Rush Limbaugh or some other group.
STEWART: Right. In democracy, to be fair, they are allowed to, uhhh -- to do that.
WAXMAN: I am not trying to silence them.
STEWART: No, I understand.
AUDIENCE: (laughter)
WAXMAN: Just keep it in perspective.
RUSH: "Just keep it in perspective." He's "not trying to silence them." That's exactly what they are trying to do! Intimidate you, call you a mob. They are trying to silence all this opposition. You know, Jon Stewart makes more sense here than most of the State Run Media. The American people aren't buying what the Democrats are selling -- and, of course, the Democrats and the president of the United States blame you! They hold you in contempt while they throw their bones to the trial lawyers and the public sector union bosses. This morning on MSNBC, the host is talking to Democrat strategerist Keith Boykin about the town hall meeting protests and the host says, "Is this cheap propaganda?"
BOYKIN: It's being orchestrated by the Republican Party's organ like Fox News and -- and people like Rush Limbaugh who are out there putting this message out now.
RATIGAN: Do you know that or do you believe that?
BOYKIN: It's obvious!
RATIGAN: How is it obvious?
BOYKIN: They are putting out the message to these people, the birth conspiracies. These people coming together. It's a coalition of cranks who have basically created this.
RUSH: You know, I would... I'm going to issue a challenge here to all you Democrat strategists and you people at Democrat National Committee -- and I'm going to include in this challenge the hapless White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. I want you to give us the name of one person who has been hired by a lobbyist working for an insurance company to show up at a town hall meeting. I want you to produce evidence of one person who is at one of these meetings because I have sent them there. It's obvious? If it's so obvious, Mr. Boykin, that all of this is trumped up, then tell us and show us who's behind this. Give us the names! Tell us which insurance companies are putting this together and making it happen. But remember this, Mr. Boykin: The community organizer who thinks it's the greatest experience he's ever had can't start bitching when communities organize.

RUSH: I'm going to go back and play this ad again, the DNC ad bought and paid for, by the way, by public sector union bosses and their allies. That's who's paying for this campaign, public sector union bosses and their allies. This is an ad sanctioned by President Obama, run by the Democrat National Committee attacking American citizens. Listen to it again.

DEMINT: It will break him.
RUSH: I hope he fails!
DNC ANNOUNCER: They have no plan for moving our country forward, so they've called out the mob.
RUSH: We sure as hell do have a plan for moving the country forward. It's called stopping Obama, stopping Reid, stopping Pelosi, stopping the trial lawyers and stopping the public sector union bosses. It's called stopping the Democrat Party. It's called saving this country. The same party that passed a phony stimulus bill giving ACORN community organizers billions of dollars to organize and protest and agitate, the same party is complaining when private citizens attend town hall meetings on their own, on their own dime and question what the government is wanting to do to their health care. I'm telling you Blue Dog Democrats, beware. Much of this campaign of lies by Obama and his cronies is aimed at convincing you that the people are not boiling over with contempt for what is being attempted here. And if you allow yourselves to be convinced by this propaganda put out by your party and your president and Axelrod and Emanuel and all the rest, you will pay the ultimate political price. I promise you, you will. You have no idea what's simmering out across the heartlands of this country. And it is rank pure opposition to what this president is attempting to do to this nation's economy and people's health care.
Let's go back in time, shall we, September 17, 2008, Elko, Nevada. During a campaign event here is the community organizer in chief, Dr. Chicago himself.
OBAMA: I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face.
RUSH: Argue with them and get in their face from the unifier, from the man who is going to bring this country together. We forget all of these things that he said during the campaign to largely union audiences. And they have the nerve to call you and all of us a mob, an unruly mob after he is urging his own supporters to get in your face and argue with you. Back in March when the target then was AIG, Obama said he didn't want to quell the angry mobs back then. March 18th, an unidentified reporter: "Mr. President, a new round of bonuses from these contracts are coming out for AIG. What could you say to the American public to quell the anger, because people are angry about this new round that's coming out. There's more bonuses. It's said to be coming for AIG executives."
OBAMA: I don't want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry. I'm angry. What I want us to do, though, is channel our anger in a constructive way.
RUSH: Yeah, he wants you arguing with people, he wanted you protesting in the front yards of AIG executives. He was out there saying to bank executives and these other people on Wall Street that he was the only one standing between them and the pitchforks. This man is not who he claims to be. He is not at all similar to the core of the American people and that is why he has to lie with virtually every statement that he makes about his health care plan or the stimulus or the state of the economy. He has to lie. He has to lie about his plans because the people of this country would reject him by a landslide if he were honest. Wall Street Journal, June 14th, 2008: "Mobster wisdom tells us never to bring a knife to a gun fight. But what does political wisdom say about bringing a gun to a knife fight? Thats exactly what Barack Obama said he would do to counter Republican attacks 'If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,' Obama said at a Philadelphia fundraiser Friday night. 'Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. Ive seen Eagles fans.'" If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.
He's calling you an unruly mob. He has encouraged his union bosses and the trial lawyers to get in your face. He has encouraged them to try to intimidate you. He's trying to intimidate you. If anybody on our side ever said, "You bring a gun, we're bringing a knife, you bring a gun, we're bringing a knife, two knives," anything like this at all, what would be done? Now, ladies and gentlemen, let's just stay with the sound bites here because now your anger is manufactured by the insurance companies. Here is yesterday's press conference briefing at the White House, Robert Gibbs. Jake Tapper from ABC: "Is it the White House contention the anger that some members of Congress are experiencing at town hall meetings, especially over health care reform, is manufactured?"
GIBBS: Some of it is, yes. In fact, I think you've had groups today, Conservatives for Patients' Rights that have bragged about organizing and manufacturing that anger. What you've seen is they have -- they've bragged about manufacturing to some degree that anger.
RUSH: No, no, no. There's no manufactured anger, Mr. Gibbs. The anger is legitimate and real and it is boiling over. And you all know it because you are running ads trying to impugn the honor and character of American citizens who have the audacity to stand up, oppose and criticize this un American agenda that you are trying to force down their throats and every other bodily orifice. And more and more of them have had it. So Mr. Gibbs, give me the name of the insurance company and give me the name of the insurance company lobbyist that's out there sending people to these meetings. If it's all manufactured, if it's not real and by the way, you guys know all about that because your guy, Axlerod, invented this whole thing. It's called Astroturfing. It's called manufacturing fake grassroots. Your guy has a business that does it. You just don't like it when something that looks like your trick is played against you. However, this is no trick. There's nothing manufactured. These people are not making up their anger. They are genuinely ticked off. Steny Hoyer was heckled at an event in New York, Utica to be exact. He was there with Michael Arcuri, Democrat representative. They held a press conference to talk about funding for high speed rail and during the press conference Hoyer and a protestor, Don Jeror, have this exchange about health care reform.
JEROR: Why would you guys try to stuff a health care bill down our throat in three to four weeks when the president took six months to pick what he wanted for a dog for his kids?
HOYER: The bill that we passed was a recovery to bring us out of this deep recession, brink of depression. For the last three months housing starts are up in America.
JEROR: You're lying to me! I don't have sophisticated language. I recognize a liar when I see one.
RUSH: This is a Democrat meeting. This is a Democrat meeting. And it's supposed to be some giant hooray for light-rail or high speed rail and instead it descends into a discussion of the economy and health care. These people in Washington, they have no clue. They have no clue. The Democrats in Washington have no clue. Well, you know they can read the polls. They do have a clue. They don't care is the bottom line. They are going to force this on you regardless.

RUSH: Steve Driehaus (I hope I'm pronouncing his name right) he's a member of congress in Cincinnati, a Democrat held a town hall to talk about health reform on Monday and during the Q&A, an unidentified woman shouted. This is very hard to hear. It's very bad audio. I'll tell you what she says after I play this.
CITIZEN: There's plenty of competition out there. We don't need government in our face.
CROWD: (wild cheering)
RUSH: We cut the cheers down to save some time. What she said is, "There's plenty of competition out there. We don't need government in our face," and the audience erupted in supportive cheers.
Here is the talking point that's been spread to all of the State Run Media and elected officials. This is a Montage.
RUSH: So once again a talking point has gone out and a State Run Media dutifully reports it and repeats it along with all of the others in the elected ranks of the Democrat Party. So you're not real, folks. You are too well dressed. You are wearing a uniform. You look too much like Brooks Brothers, when the truth is most of you are in economic circumstances such that you couldn't afford to go in the door at Brooks Brothers.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: So it's the Brooks Brothers brigade, eh? I haven't seen the photos. I haven't seen the pictures of the Green Bay "mob" that showed up. But I'll bet you that less than 15% of them were wearing Brooks Brothers. And I also know this: I've been to Green Bay, I know people in Green Bay, and I know that "lime green" and "pink" are not popular colors in the North Woods. These people are blowing it big time. The Democrat Party and President Obama are unable to tell the truth and now rip American citizens as a mob?

RUSH: We go to Wausau, Wisconsin and Jeff. Thanks for calling, sir. Nice to have you hear.
CALLER: Well, Rush, I hope you say that after my call. I've listened to you for years and I love ya, and I'm going to say to you, "Nice try, but you're wrong." You are wrong about the wise, conservative to the core American people. I want to know how the wise, conservative to the core American people stuck us with the president who was the most far left voting candidate ever. My God, this guy is starting to make Bill Clinton look like George Washington. I tell you. And the wise, conservative to the core American people are responsible for this. How in the world? I'm just a lunkhead sitting here in Wausau, Wisconsin. I knew this guy was the most far left voting Senate candidate. I could see through the lies before this guy got elected. I mean, how in the world could not the rest of the conservative to the core American people see this?
I mean, American people, are you listening to me? You are smart at some things. You are whiz-bang at technology and things like that, but in politics you are dumb and you are getting dumber. Could you turn off American Idol for frickin' 30 minutes? Could you turn off watching crab fishermen for frickin' 30 minutes and find out what the hell is going on in your country? Here we are now. We've got this guy for another, what, three years? And I tell you this, Rush, I'll bet you a case of cat food for your cat, whatever it likes. This guy is a lock, he is an absolute lock to win reelection. I don't care if there's 40% unemployment and cities are in flames. This guy is a lock because the American people are smart in some things, but in politics they are dumb and they are getting dumber by the hour.
We've got this guy; now we're stuck with him. Thanks wise, conservative to the core American people. Thanks a lot. Sarah Palin, if you're listening out there, dear, I love you. Stay out of it. Next time it's going to be nothing but baby, baby, baby, that goofy ex-fiance's going to be trying to earn every dime he possibly can. He's going to be on every far left TV show that he can possibly get on out there. They are going to destroy you, honey. They are going to destroy you. Take it easy. Enjoy some fishing. Enjoy life in Alaska. Stay out of it. The American people in politics are dumb and they're getting dumber. Rush, I've tried my best to contain myself. I still love you. I'm still going to listen to you. I don't know what you think about me now.
RUSH: Well, I love ya.
CALLER: (laughing) Oh, you do?
RUSH: Yeah.
CALLER: Even though I say you're wrong about this?
RUSH: This is a great call.
CALLER: Well, thanks. I didn't expect that.
RUSH: Well, we don't always judge the quality of calls on whether the caller makes sense. Passion is --
CALLER: Wait a minute. I've got to think about that.
RUSH: Wait. Passion is the key. Passion is the key.
CALLER: A passionate caller who is not making any sense. To me I make perfect sense.
RUSH: I know you are making perfect sense to yourself, but I know you passionately believe everything you said. You basically said the American people are a bunch of idiots.
CALLER: They are not a bunch of idiots, not across the board, but in politics. Look, McCain, McCain, these war heroes, I love him for what he did in the Hanoi Hilton. But these war heroes come back and they get witless when they go into politics. The guy wanted to be the great statesman, the guy wanted to be fair play, above the fray. What did it get you, Mr. McCain if you are listening out there?
RUSH: Wait a second.
CALLER: What did it get you? Two more votes? Obama beat you in a landslide. The most far left guy, a community organizer beat the war hero in a landslide. You tell me the American people are not dumb in politics.
RUSH: Hang on a second. Let me address this.
CALLER: All right.
RUSH: I would give the American people --
CALLER: Yes.
RUSH: If you look at that campaign as it was run, I think it was pretty damn smart not to vote for McCain.
CALLER: Well, he might as well not been running --
RUSH: Let me finish now. The reason it was smart is because he wasn't a conservative.
CALLER: That's true.
RUSH: The whole Republican Party has gone south trying to become Mr. and Miss Moderate, Mr. and Miss Independent.
CALLER: It's the same thing that happened to these people, if they get back into Congress next year, it's going to be the same thing. Oh, they are talking now.
RUSH: Wait.
CALLER: But as soon as they get into Congress, "We want to reach across the aisle. We want to include the Democrats."
RUSH: Hold it. There's no point in talking to you if you are this fatalistic.
CALLER: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
RUSH: I mean, if you are this fatalistic, if there's no solution to this, I think you should go to Alaska and go fishing with Sarah and Todd Palin.
CALLER: Okay, please correct me then. Give me some hope.
RUSH: Well, I want to change the premise. I want to go back and have you relive that campaign.
CALLER: Yes.
RUSH: You were smart enough to figure out Obama, but most people who were getting a lot of their news from the State-Run Media had listened to seven years of how absolutely rotten Bush was. Bush never defended himself, leaving his voters out to dry. They were never defended. He never defended himself. The lies that the media told about the economy, the war in Iraq, domestic spying. The American people wanted change, anything. But you put up the war hero and the one foot in the grave campaign he ran versus this smooth-talking, eloquent liar who had people believing they are going to get the exact opposite of what they got. People wanted what Obama was promising. You may have been smart enough to see it, but people vote emotionally in a lot of cases. In addition to falling for Obama, the people who didn't fall for him really had nowhere else to go. There was no passion. Like you've got passion. There wasn't any passion in the Republican electorate.
CALLER: Are the American people going to be smarter the next time around?
RUSH: Well, this is what my theory is, that real life experience, this guy's not who he said he was. This guy's a fraud. He's practicing deceit. Their lives are being destroyed while he tells them they are being rescued.
CALLER: Yes.
RUSH: Now, at some point people are smart enough to know that they can't afford food. They are smart enough to know when they don't have a job to go to. They are smart enough to know when their spouses start complaining to them about hanging around the house all day. They are smart enough to know gasoline prices start going up. They are smart enough to know they can't afford a new car unless the government gives them $4500. They are smart enough to know a lot of things as they live them.
CALLER: Well, Rush, let's hope three years from now when that old Obama campaign begins rolling again, they are smart enough to know then, too.
RUSH: To hell with three years, 2010. There's got to be some stop to this agenda.
CALLER: Only if you are Speaker of the House and keep them guys in line, or maybe the whip. Maybe that would be better.
RUSH: I am the Speaker of the American House.
CALLER: Rush, I know you've got to let me go. I still love you. I think you are wrong about this but I hope you can prove me wrong.
RUSH: Well, it's not to me. It's the American people. I have faith they will prove you wrong. Do you not take any heart and solace in the fact that Obama's cratering issue by issue in the polls?
CALLER: He's cratering right now, but I got a feeling that he's going to come bouncing back for some reason. I don't know. Maybe it will be a war that lands in his lap or something, or something.
RUSH: All right. Here's the key for you.
CALLER: If the election was next week, maybe so.
RUSH: Well, look. I'm not quitting.
CALLER: No, I'm not quitting, either.
RUSH: I certainly sure as hell don't want you to. Now look, here's the thing, because I do now have just one minute. The key to all of this is taking back the Republican Party so that we have a political vehicle to advance the conservative movement, Jeff. The American people, by every legitimate study, are more conservative than liberal. We have to have a nominee who is conservative, who can speak conservatism, who can speak American patriotism, who can respond to leftwing arguments, who is confident in his knowledge. This is the challenge. The challenge we have is making sure the moderates, the genuine stupid elitists in our own party do not control it come the next two elections. If we put up a candidate like that, we'll win. We always do when we put up a candidate like that in national races. We are making the case for our case on radio in books to have somebody to vote for. And that's how you turn out the vote in national elections, to get you, your passion lit up in everybody else, to get this current agenda fixed and gone and the only way that passion that you exhibited in this call is going to erupt for a Republican candidate is if he is or she is a genuine conservative. And if that passion can be aroused, the Democrats don't have a prayer, especially with the damage they are wreaking on everyday people and their lives.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Look, folks, what choice did the people have in 2008? We had a Democrat promising to do traditional Democrat things and we had a Republican telling us his big asset was his willingness to work with Democrats to get done what they wanted to get done. What choice did the American people have? Give them a choice. It works every time it's tried.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: I'm getting a lot of e-mails on that last caller: "Hey, Rush, I want to hug and kiss that guy, right on, the American people are stupid. I loved it. I loved it when he said turn off American Idol." Yeah, and turn off all the fishing shows. (laughing)
Let me address this again in a segment here where I have a little bit more time about that caller. The key is taking back the Republican Party so that we have a political vehicle to advance the conservative movement. The American people, by every legitimate study, are more conservative than liberal. It's like 42% to 21 people who identify themselves, 35% independent. More people identify themselves as conservative than anything by any number of legitimate studies. So we have to have a nominee who is conservative, who can speak conservatism, who can inspire and motivate, who can arouse their passion; somebody who can respond to leftwing arguments; somebody who's confident; somebody who has knowledge. This is the challenge that we face in future elections.
The American people will be there if we get that candidate. If we put up a candidate like that we will win. That's why all the focus on this program and even the Greta van Susteren interview I told them what the problem with the Republican Party is. That wasn't just a bash Obama interview or bash the Democrats. The Republican Party is headed up by a bunch of country club blue blood Rockefeller liberals and moderates that don't want any part of conservatism because they are embarrassed about the abortion issue. They don't like social issues being part of their party, and if we put up a genuine conservative we will win. We're making the case for our case on this radio show every day, and others on their radio shows and in books. We don't have the power right now, and we haven't had it for some time because the Republican Party's taken a wrong turn.
So it's really kind of a mistake to just lay it all off on the American people as being dumb and stupid. If you vote for people who claim to be one thing and turn out to be another, it's pretty smart to not vote for them again. The American people, the conservative voter is not stupid. The conservative voter is simply not going to vote for a fraud in his own party, or her own party. What choice did we have in 2008? What choice did we have? A lot of people voted against Obama, not for McCain. We didn't have anything to vote for. There was nothing affirmative for us in that election, in that whole campaign. You've got to have somebody to vote for. That arouses passions.
So the choice in 2008, we had this smooth-talking agent of change and hope speaking platitudes and creating a cult-like following. And the Republican was somebody whose main selling point was he gets along with Democrats. He can walk across the aisle and be bipartisan. Our candidate bought the notion that the American people want the two parties to work together and put aside their differences. McCain also promised cap and trade. McCain also promised his own version of health care reform and immigration reform. Where was the opportunity for conservatives to rise up and get passionate about the election in 2008? It wasn't there. If the Republican Party keeps putting candidates up like that, we're cooked, but not because the American people are stupid, but because the Republican Party seeks not to win. If we all just say, though, that the end is inevitable, if we just say the American people are stupid and they want all of this, that there is no hope, then we can't build a movement to stop this. We can't build a movement to take back the Republican Party. We can't take back the government and begin the process of unraveling this.
If we just say that most of the people are stupid and want this, they don't care because they got American Idol on twice a week in the winter and the spring, well, then what's left? Why even stay engaged? Why stay involved? In the end, if people want this, they will get it. I don't believe the people do want this. The polls show they don't want this. Obama knows they don't want it. Pelosi knows they don't want it. Their entire strategy is based on lying to the people and ramming through their agenda before the working tax paying people of this country know what hit them. That's why the speed. Obama may well be destroying the Democrat Party. We will know soon enough. The Democrat Party represents an ever shrinking percentage of the population the American people are. And, Lord, if I didn't think this, I'd be playing golf somewhere, probably New Zealand.
The American people are at their core liberty-loving, competitive, innovative and independent, and this is precisely why the Democrat Party -- from Pelosi to Reid, to Obama, to Rahm Emanuel, to the public sector union bosses -- have to lie about what they're doing. They have to lie that they're saving jobs when they're not. They have to lie that they're giving tax cuts when they haven't. They have to lie about all the new jobs of cap and trade. They have to lie about deficits. They have to lie about what they're actually trying to do with health care. The reason they have to lie is because the American people do not agree with them and do not want this, and we are seeing evidence of it. What we have to hope for is that this passion lasts.
The Democrat Party's a very narrow ideological bunch of radicals. They are led by people who spend their every waking moment conspiring against the public and lying because that's the only way they can advance. As I said earlier, we get the latest round of this. We get attack the insurance companies, attack the attendees at town hall meetings, make all these wildly irresponsible arguments, promises about government health care. I could go on. The conservative movement is going to have to rally and unify and take back the Republican Party. The conservative movement's also going to have to understand one thing in dealing with Barack Obama and the Democrat Party at-large. You can say this about Clinton, too. Vladimir/Lenin believed as a totalitarian, as a dictator, as an authoritarian, as a politician that there was no truth, that words were just tools. So the facts never, ever got in the way, just had to come up with the right words, the right tools to overcome the things that got in your way.
The conservative movement is going to have to understand that the power of fact, the power of truth alone up against a strategy of deceit and fraud is not enough by itself to overpower it. While facts are being presented, the truth about the opposition must also be presented. Facts of policy, facts of ideology, but whoever runs for office has got to have the guts to stand up and say the Democrat Party is lying to you. Nancy Pelosi is lying to you, or they're not telling you the truth. And people know this. It's going to be easier and easier to do because it will be something that people already agree with. You won't have to persuade them they are being lied to. You won't have to persuade people out of work that the economy's improving. You won't have to persuade people that Obama's lying about that, but you will have to say it because, to the other side, there is no truth. There are no facts.
As conservatives, folks, we are really people who are intellectually applied to our beliefs. They're emotionally applied and their emotional objective is to manipulate your emotions. They don't want to deal with facts; they don't want to deal with truth. They want to create their own using words as a tool or as tools. But we're very intellectually active. We have to be understanding the American founding, understanding how conservatism works. It's an intellectual application, a daily one, and even though people say, "Well, Rush, if conservatism's so wonderful, how come the Reagan years didn't teach everybody?" Because every day during the Reagan years and every day since the Reagan years, the Leninists in this country have been lying to you about what happened. They lie and deceive every day. They have cronies in the media who repeat the lies, and who do not report what they're doing. They simply repeat the lies. So on the one hand you've got the life you lived, the experiences you had, versus a deluge of lies about it.
My father, when I stayed out too late as a teenager, he would say, "Son, you thought you were having fun, but you weren't." And I said, "What the hell does that mean? Because I had a great time." "You thought you were having fun, but you weren't." You thought you did great in the eighties and you thought you did great in the nineties. Well, no, they wanted you to think that in the nineties because they were in charge. Remember they tried to convince you we were in a recession when unemployment was 4.7%, just two years ago. Hell, just one year ago. And they tried to convince you that we had never lost more soldiers in a war than the 3,000 in Iraq.
Have you noticed, speaking of that by the way, that there is no discussion in State-Controlled Media about the debacle taking place in Afghanistan? Our military leaders, they say we need twice the number of troops. The Brits are saying our strategy is a mess. Now, if George W. Bush was still president, that's all we would be hearing to cover up the bad economic news. I take it back. If Bush were president, that's all we would be hearing about along with lies about how bad the economy is. They would tell us how bad it is.
We have to send an ex-president over to North Korea to apologize to Kim Jong-il to get a couple of Algore journalists out of there. Hillary Clinton goes out and says it was a totally private visit. Now, that's not possible. You don't have an ex-president decide on his own to hop a plane over to Pyongyang, get off the plane, go meet with the potbelly dictator and get the journalists freed. The only thing she said that was truthful about it was she didn't talk to him while he was there, meaning her husband. But now you got the Clintons back in the news cycle taking credit for all these wonderful things, Hillary's over in Kenya kissing Obama's grandfather's grave and talking about whatever corruption she's finding over there. Just a bunch of total BS. It's all just a bunch of BS. There is no truth. And to the extent that they think you believe in truth, you are the target. You have to be disabused of that notion.

RUSH: Peter in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, you're next as we go back to the phones. Hello, sir.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. I just wanted to make a quick point because I'm talking on a cell phone while I'm driving, which is not a great idea. Everything you are saying about trying to make the Republican Party a venue or a platform for conservative ideas is absolutely correct as far as it goes. But it has to go farther and that is we have to be able to outspend our opponents. It seems to me that the main reason why Barack Obama won his election was that he was able to spend more than anybody else. John McCain just couldn't keep up.
RUSH: Yeah, well, let me tell you something. In most election cycles when the Republican Party has a conservative candidate, fundraising isn't even a contest. The Democrats can't compete. Why should conservatives have sent the Republican Party money in that last campaign?
CALLER: I know I didn't. Yeah, that's just the point I wanted to make, Rush, and I think it's got to be out there that there are practical and physical measures we have to take to win this back.
RUSH: Of course. Money is the mother's milk of politics. That goes without saying. But I think the money will be there if somebody shows up to arouse the passions of people.

RUSH: John in West Islip, New York. I've got about a minute but I wanted to get to you. Hello, sir.
CALLER: Megadittos, Rush. Thank you for keeping alive, borrowing a phrase from the opposition. You know, the Democrats have it so easy. All they do is they get to propose stupid legislation after stupid legislation, billions and billions and billions of dollars. As conservatives, you know, all our guys can say is, "No, that's not your role. No, it's too much money. No, we're going to run up the debt," and that's just not, you know, as sexy as the job the Democrats do. So if this thing reverses in 2010, will the Republicans have the intestinal fortitude to reverse TARP, cap and trade if it gets passed, you know, so on and so on." I've just got to know. I've got to believe there's some hope out there.
RUSH: There is, but this is... I'll go back to what I said earlier. It depends on which GOP wins. If it's a GOP with conservative policies and conservative foundations, yeah. If you elect people who wanted to go in there and rip this stuff apart... It's been done before. It's been done, 1994 with the Republicans when they won the House. Yes, it can be done. This is still the United States of America, and if you want to think that the end is inevitable, then of course nothing will get done.

American Thinker: Democratic Voters Flee the Obama-Pelosi Bandwagon Washington Examiner: Obama's Whopper on Middle-class Tax Hike |
We told you Erik Erickson at RedState.com found it yesterday. You know what this is? This is Obama's own exclusive private domestic spying program. This website at Flag@WhiteHouse.gov? If you get a White House blog, if you get an e mail or see something on the Web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to Flag@WhiteHouse.gov. It's his own private domestic spying program! He is asking citizens to inform on others. Now, that means they are going to have to be hearing about a lot of people because a majority of people oppose this utter debacle and disaster. Now, as the Heritage people write here: "In the interest of honest debate, we would like to flag the White House about some prominent people that are directly contradicting the President about what his health care plan would do to the American people."
The president's out there saying you will not lose your private insurance. The president's out there saying you will not get healthcare rationed. "The President has explicitly said that the public option will not eliminate private insurance. He told the American Medical Association on June 15th: 'What are not legitimate concerns are those being put forward claiming a public option is somehow a Trojan horse for a single-payer system..." That's the president: No public option will take away your private insurance.
However, one, two, three, four liberals -- two of them elected, two of them in the State Controlled Media -- virtually assure us that we will lose our private insurance. "Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) at a Health Care for America Now rally: 'And next to me was a guy from the insurance company who argued against the public health insurance option, saying it wouldn't let private insurance compete. That a public option will put the private insurance industry out of business and lead to single-payer. My single-payer friends, he was right. The man was right,'" that their plan in the House would indeed eliminate private insurance.
So who's spreading disinformation, Mr. President? You are spreading disinformation. Your party is spreading disinformation. Your party is lying to the American people because they have no other choice. Barney Frank and we have played audio sound bites from Barney on this. I even had it in the stack yesterday. I didn't get a chance to get to it. But he "told Single Payer Action: 'I think that if we get a good public option it could lead to single-payer and that is the best way to reach single-payer. Saying you'll do nothing till you get single-payer is a sure way never to get it. ... I think the best way we're going to get single-payer, the only way, is to have a public option and demonstrate the strength of its power.'"
Yet Obama is running ads. He's got Linda Douglass out there saying, "There's all this disinformation being said about my plan. My plan won't destroy private insurance." Well, two elected Democrats in the House have just said that it will and that they want that to happen. So who's spreading the disinformation? "Washington Post blogger Ezra Klein at the Democratic National Convention last year: 'They have a sneaky strategy, the point of which is to put in place something that over time the natural incentives within its own market will move it to single-payer.'" Washington Post blogger Ezra Klein was being told this by Democrats at their convention last summer!
"Noble Prize winning New York Times columnist Paul Krugman: '[T]he only reason not to do [single-payer] is that politically it's hard to do in one step You'd have to convince people completely give up the insurance they have, whereas something that lets people keep the insurance they have but then offers the option of a public plan, that may evolve into single-payer.'" Now, as Heritage says: "Americans deserve an honest debate about health care. President Obama, Barney Frank, and Jan Schakowsky cannot all be right. Either the President is wrong when he says his plan will not lead to government-run health care, or Frank and Schakowsky are spreading disinformation ..." Regardless it's not us lying about the plan.
Mr. Gibbs, Mr. Obama, we are telling the truth about it. It is your party that is lying, because you care more about tort lawyers and public sector union bosses than any other group of people in this country. This is why Heritage is so valuable, folks. You know, limited government and full liberty are two of the hallmarks of the people at the Heritage Foundation. They are doing the best work anywhere inside the Beltway. They research and provide the facts on all that's happening and changing in Washington. It's amazing. They're in D.C., but they don't do D.C. speak. They are us. They can't do it alone, though. They have 435,000 members, or maybe it's even more than that now. You should become one, too, for just $25. Just go to AskHeritage.org. And you can also do show prep in the morning at the same time I'm doing it. www.AskHeritage.org.

And here's the last couple of paragraphs: "All of this has dramatic implications for Obama, who may find over time that his legions of followers were easier to gather than they are to keep. 'We see Democrats with quite a large lead in party affiliation,' said Hart. 'That used to be good for a generation -- now its good for an election cycle.' Hart comes to a bleak conclusion: 'Loyalty,' he said, 'is something that is totally in the past.'" Mr. Hart, again, the generic ballot has the Republicans up 7 points over the Democrats. There are more people that identify themselves as conservatives than liberals and than independents. It's been the rule for a while, but since the Republicans don't produce a candidate it doesn't matter. (interruption) What's the question, Snerdley? Wait a second, wait a second. They can't hear you.
Snerdley wants me to explain why my audience is so loyal to me, and the answer is because I'm loyal to them. I do not change. I am not fickle. Yes, I can be counted on. The Republican Party cannot be counted on. It's a crap shoot with every candidate they put up there. No matter how much I'm attacked, I don't back down. I don't change. I don't run away and I don't get afraid. Plus, I'm honest with the audience. I do not mislead. I do not tell them things I don't believe just to get ratings. I don't do any of the phony tricks that media people do. They are loyal because I'm loyal to them. I don't disrespect them. I don't think they're idiots. I don't think the audience is stupid. I don't think they're people to be manipulated. I don't think they are people to be lied to. So there is no fickleness, and the audience is still growing after 21 years.

Will this outfit be appropriate for me to wear to the next townhall meeting hosted by my Congressman? I don't want to be too under-dressed. |
A great show he had today.
I enjoyed every single minute of it.
Obama’s not against freedom of speech - FOR HIS SIDE - but he is AGAINST freedom of speech for people who disagree with him. What’s the difference between that and any common thuggy dictator?
