Have you not seen the newspaper articles from 1963 referring to the “republic of Kenya”?

Yes I have.

The NEVADA PALLADIUM TIMES, the famous world authority on international fairs and county fairs.

It's completely laughable that people rely on this as evidence of what the world called Kenya at the time. They ignore rafts of articles in the major papers that don't refer to them as a Republic, and cling like a drowning man to a passing account in the most obscure of newspapers.

There's also the little matter of the country proclaiming to the world in their official histories and accounts at the time, that they became a republic on Dec 12th 1964, exactly a year after independence. They even released 5 postage stamps to announce and celebrate their becoming a republic.

There were actually several examples of the country being called “Republic of Kenya” in 1963. These were what...lucky guesses?

Do you think that they maybe printed those 5 stamps BEFORE December 12th, 1964? Maybe the certificates of registration early, also. And began using them early, too.

The path from Colony to independent Nation had been, for them, long, bloody, (MauMau) and (toward the end) structured.

During the final year, waiting for states, they could begin using the new form, either officially, or as a gesture of defiance.
