Honing those pitchforks

Stories have been coming out here and there about elected officials or their staffs not treating constituents with respect. This does not seem to be a good way to win support for Health Care Reform.

Last fall and winter many pundits were warning that the difference between a recession and a depression is that the former is part of a normal cycle while the latter requires government interference. The difference between a normal political activism and civil unrest may well turn out to be the arrogant stifling of debate by those in power. Many Congressmen and Senators seem reluctant to meet with their constituents over the upcoming recess. This is not smart. So far most of the protesters against the further expansion of government have been polite if firm. As time passes, however, many are growing frustrated with a Congress that hasn't been listening and a media that tends to either ignore them or misrepresent their cause. I suspect from reading the comments after some of these stories people are beginning to think in terms of warming up the tar and breaking open the old feather pillows. The comment thread after the story on Senator Feinstein having constituents arrested almost reads like one from Free Republic or Ace of Spades instead of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Here is the political theater from Los Angeles. (video here)

Police were called on a group of retirees who refused to leave Sen. Dianne Feinstein's West Los Angeles office until she talked to them about health care reform.

Los Angeles police Sergeant Rich Brunson said Thursday that police lured the group of seven outside somehow, then locked the building's doors behind them.

In New York, Representative Tim Bishop, who has stopped holding townhall meetings because he sees them as "pointless'

Did anyone even read the article?

“During the motorcade when the president was arriving, there were several vehicles following the limo that contained the secret service. All of the vehicles had all the windows rolled down, and back hatch open on the SUVs with the men holding their, I assume assault rifles, machine guns, drawn on everyone lining the streets. Needless to say it took my breath away at the sight of them, and made my friends and I dizzy with fear. I have seen the secret service before, but never like this. While they were intimidating, I never felt in danger. The guns were not drawn when the motorcade was leaving the event. But I turned on a local talk radio program as we were leaving and all the calls were about witnessing the guns being pointed at them and nothing else until the end of the program.”

The Tim Bishop video showed why politicians today are so dangerous (not to mention different from their ilk of the past). Any Rep. “Foghorn” of the past (say, 50 yrs ago) would have sussed out the room and taken control. A rep Foghorn would have known how to vote based upon what he was hearing and seeing.

That Bishop could only react (see his global warming comments) as a Priest might if queried on the Divinity Of Jesus tells us that our reps are waaaaaaaay out there and have truths that they hold above us and The Nation.

On a chilling note, earlier this week, President Obama held an event to rally support for his health care in Bristol, Virginia. This small city in the far southwest corner of Virginia is part of a tri-cities region on the I-81 corridor that includes nearby Johnson City and Kingsport, Tennessee. While the attendees at the actual event were handpicked, there were many protesters along the motorcade route. As has been the case in many such events, the anti-Obama care protesters greatly outnumbered the pro voices. A reader of Gateway Pundit sent in this report. (bold in original)

Just wow!

There must be a lot of death threats against this Marxist who fooled most of the US populace all of the time - to date. While I deplore the heavy-handedness of the SS, I wish them success. All we need is something bad to happen to that lying POC (there I said it! He's a lying piece POC) and we would have to endure liberal/progressive whining (that high pitched, intellectual condescending, metro-sexual nasal sounding whine) for centuries to come. It must really suck to be the SS. Good luck SS and I wish you success! Keep that lying POC alive and then we, the people, will vote his booty out of office fair and square.

Yesterday, the stories about these incidents were posted here at FR. Finally, the rest of the country is starting to wake up.

While I will be quietly attending the next couple of Tea Parties quietly with just signs, I am taking inventory of all gardening tools and large heavy objects in the garage as well as, not just feather pillows, but old down comforters. My ancestors were peasants. I have no problem reverting to my roots.

The message that they’re TOAST must be given to them NOW. Their arrogance is reprehensible. Is there a way to recall them now even if it is symbolic?

Agreed. 0bama's assassination would be just about the very worst thing that could happen.

Every one of his projects would be shoved through in memory of him.

It would be the 'put a man on the moon in this decade' on steroids.

Don’t target Obama—look to your elected people. You have a right to tell them what you think of their deeds! We must take up the tools of the left if we are to win the hearts and minds of the people. How many would be as brave as the citizen of Iran who marched in the street even if it held the possibility of death? Do they love their nation more than we? Every time Obama leaves the White House he must see that not all Americans follow him with slobbering rock star love. We need to protest each congress critter—each senator—each czar— Let them know that we will not take it silently. Let the media know. Write letter to the newspapers—lots of them—send them emails until we crash the system with our numbers. Boycott any who advertise in left wing rags until the whimper for a bailout. Hit them in the one place they are weakest-— The pocketbook. Don’t give a red cent to any party that supports this train wreck of a government—left or right. I would rather give my hard earned cash to a hobo so he could get drunk rather than to the drunken sailors who spend our taxes with wild abandon.
Organize—from now on—each day is tea party day and our elected politicos should only find peace in another land-and we should follow them there as well. Organize now and if we must we can overturn the system. It has happened before!
