Well, look at it this way. Maybe the "teachable moment" is for Professor Gates..that it isn't about RACE at all. Rather it's about respecting law officers.

Maybe but what’s it matter anyway? You cannot put the toothpaste back into the tube. There is NO WAY they can spin this favorable to ONOTHING because if they could it would be done by now. We all know they have looked into the back ground of Sgt Crowley and come up empty or else we would have already been subject to him being blasted as a closet racist long before this.
The only thing that can help ONOTHING now is for Crowley to come out publically and admit he made a mistake and and tried to incite Gates to become personally abusive and disorderly so he could arrest him. But then we have the witnesses who have backed crowley’s original story. What about them?
I don’t see that happening but who knows what threats may have been made to whom.
