From the standpoint of the liberal media? I don’t see them ever reporting a thing on this topic.

I believe that, too. I want to believe trust in the mid-stream media is reaching the Rubicon where, along with Ears' numbers descent, so goes the msm's.

We won't need them much longer.

Ron Paul should be at the top of the treasury. If it were an elected position I suspect he would be a landslide winner.

Ron Paul’s Opening Statement: The Federal Reserve Created the Crisis

http://www.ronpaul.com/2009-07-21/ron-pauls-opening-statement-the-federal-reserve-created-the-crisis/

=========Ron Paul: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Good morning, Chairman Bernanke. The Federal Reserve in collaboration with the giant banks has created the greatest financial crisis the world has ever seen. The foolish notion that unlimited amounts of money and credit created out of thin air can provide sustained economic growth has delivered this crisis to us.=================

He’s virtually right. He has missed out on how the banks were forced by government to do what they did, but given his push to open the fed’s books I’m willing to overlook it.

Ron Paul is like a raw oyster: You gotta clear away so much crap just to get to the good stuff, which is worth it.

This is history in the making, and victory is within reach. Imagine what will happen if HR 1207, The Federal Reserve Transparency Act, comes up for vote in Congress!

Barney Frank will get to decide Fed policy. Oh boy.

The problem with Ron Paul as I see it is even though he has some sound ideas, he COMES OFF as a crackpot. He really needs to work on projecting himself in a more reasoned and “of sound mind” manner. Like his ideas, dislike his persona.

Its always intresting to see people that refuse to accept any other perspective than:

This is America, everything will always be ok.

Our Government will never fail at keeping the system going.

America will always be the world’s powerhouse nation.

Becasue we are entitled, we will get and have everything we want.

My advice is to never say never.

Wonderful. Even “conservatives” are dragging the country back to the Middle Ages. Ignorance is bliss. Just wonderful.

I would love to see this. The Fed is completely corrupt.

Perhaps he comes off this way because he IS a crackpot?

Only an ignorant crackpot could introduce a bill like that and say whay he did. He looks like a duck and he walks like one -- you really expect him to be anything but a duck?

-————Wonderful. Even “conservatives” are dragging the country back to the Middle Ages.-—————

You have it bass ackwards.

Unaccountable government is so 1300s.

Getting an audit of the fed and being able to take a look around is more transparent and more like how we do things today.

-————Ignorance is bliss.-—————

That’s where we’re stuck at right now. The fed is practically a secret society. Who the heck knows what’s going on over there right now? This bill would change that.

The fed is practically a secret society.

LOL! They only turn over their earnings to the Treasury each year and publish their balance sheet once a week.

This bill would change that.

You believe everything your idiot congressman tells you?

You managed to get every single fact wrong.

RP complains about the money supply, alleging it to be the cause of our problems. But money supply is widely publish and tracked, in addition to the Fed, by various groups of economist.

"This ally that we aid incites our enemies"

Total nonsense. Unlike meetings of Congressmen and President, the minutes of the Fed meetings are published a few weeks later. " Who the heck knows what’s going on over there right now? "

There you go: just because you don't know and don't understand, you assume that nobody does. And so does RP, as evidenced by his Neanderthal statement.

With backward-looking "conservatives" like this, who needs the Dems to bring the country down?

Wow I don’t even know where to begin. How about this. Do you understand how it works? How they come up with money? How they were formed, when, where, and why? If not, then I can suggest some books to you. It’s just way too long to write and difficult to follow.

The law now reads:

TITLE 31 > SUBTITLE I > CHAPTER 7 > SUBCHAPTER II > § 714

§ 714. Audit of Financial Institutions Examination Council, Federal Reserve Board, Federal reserve banks, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Office of Comptroller of the Currency (a) In this section, “agency” means the Financial Institutions Examination Council, the Federal Reserve Board, Federal reserve banks, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Office of Thrift Supervision.
(b) Under regulations of the Comptroller General, the Comptroller General shall audit an agency, but may carry out an onsite examination of an open insured bank or bank holding company only if the appropriate agency has consented in writing. Audits of the Federal Reserve Board and Federal reserve banks may not include— (1) transactions for or with a foreign central bank, government of a foreign country, or nonprivate international financing organization;
(2) deliberations, decisions, or actions on monetary policy matters, including discount window operations, reserves of member banks, securities credit, interest on deposits, and open market operations;
(3) transactions made under the direction of the Federal Open Market Committee; or
(4) a part of a discussion or communication among or between members of the Board of Governors and officers and employees of the Federal Reserve System related to clauses (1)–(3) of this subsection.

The Bill ((HR 1207)) would just eliminate the exclusions:

(a) In General- Subsection (b) of section 714 of title 31, United States Code, is amended by striking all after `shall audit an agency' and inserting a period.
(b) Audit- Section 714 of title 31, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:
(e) Audit and Report of the Federal Reserve System-

`(1) IN GENERAL- The audit of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks under subsection (b) shall be completed before the end of 2010.

#

It also tightens the requirements on when and how Congress gets the results of the audit.

From TopQuark: But money supply is widely publish and tracked, in addition to the Fed, by various groups of economist.

Really? What is the M3 the last time you checked?

If you disagree with many of us with regards to the transparency of the Fed, you really need to work on your persuasion skills.

the minutes of the Fed meetings are published a few weeks later.

As if meeting minutes provide sunshine. Hogwash. If they are so transparent, why not publish a TRANSCRIPT of the discussions? Too much inside baseball going on. If you don't agree then fine. But lay off the harsh tone.

"passed but veto by president? If obama want it done, he would’ve supported it by now

If the House & Senate passed this bill and Obama vetoed it, it would be the end of Obama's popularity.

This bill has bi-partisan support and the support of the people, who don't trust the Federal Reserve. Obama promised "transparency", which is exactly what this bill delivers. Vetoing this bill would prove Obama to be the Liar & Chief, and would end whatever credibility he has with anyone -- and he knows it.

A far more likely outcome would be that he would get Libs in his own Party to water the bill down & take some of the teeth out of it. At the same time, this action would make the bill more likely to pass.

If the bill passes and is signed into law, it would be the GAO (the Government Accounting Office) that does the audit -- I am pretty sure that this is one of the provisions in the bill, itself.

IMHO, I think that it would be a real hoot if in the end, it was Ron Paul's bill that unseated Obama from his throne. Then, the real "kooks, assclowns and lunatics" who've called Ron Paul these things all these years, who would be the ones eating crow.
