With the fed doing so much damage to our economy over the years, this is something that needed to be done decades ago.
It's time to force them to open their books and let us all see what's going on.
To: Halfmanhalfamazing
Yep, why should they be above auditing?

I agree, but I haven’t heard much about this.... more MSM “cowardly silence”?
To: cripplecreek
They shouldn’t be.
But at the same time, keep in mind that Ben Bernanke will take the heat if this ever happens, and Obama gets to nominate someone new. Fed Chairman Larry Summers, anyone?
I’d be willing to wait a year or two to see the Fed’s books if it meant keeping Larry Summers out.

I hope they mean what they are saying and will really do an unbiased investigation.

passed but veto by president? If obama want it done, he would’ve supported it by now

Isn’t auditing it symbolic? What does this bill stop the FED from doing exactly?
To: Terpfen
And that’s another problem. If the fed isn’t part of the government, a president shouldn’t be the one to nominate a chairman.

Well, you see, even though Ron Paul was the only person in congress that predicted the near economic collapse this year, most people on this board think he is crazy. We need to be fighting more wars you see.

-————Isnt auditing it symbolic?-—————
From the standpoint of the congress? Probably.
From the standpoint of the liberal media? I don’t see them ever reporting a thing on this topic.
From the standpoint of talk radio? That’s where any results from all of this would get a wide play.
-————What does this bill stop the FED from doing exactly?-——————
Auditing is the first step. You can’t take the second step until you take the first.

As much as I laud Dr. Paul and those cosponsoring for writing this bill, and hopefully getting some publicity, I hope they have the foresight to specify who is actually going to do the audit.
If it's just another government agency, using government fantasy bookkeeping, and accountable to the same Congresscritters that got us into this mess in the first place, then we may as well stop the wishful thinking right now and abandon this idea, or we'll just get a useless stamp of approval on the same old craptacular system we already have.
An audit has to be conducted by a third party - preferably insulated from influence, and held to the same generally accepted accounting standards that every corporation and small business has to adhere to. Anything else is asking for a whitewash.

In my opinion, the federal reserve isn't controlled by the federal government. I think it's controlled by a mafia-like organization.
I strongly agree there should be an audit, because our countries economic system depends on it, and the tax slaves are footing the bill.
Because of this administrations massive wasteful spending and incompetence, some one has to go in and straighten everything out. Oboma has made a mess of everything - And I mean everything. What a disaster!

Which is exactly why I wouldn't vote for him, nutjobs like you.

I think all that has to be done is to crack the Fed backdoor enough to let some sunlight in. Once the light hits the vampires, in their rush to cover their butts, they will create a whole new set of interesting story lines to follow.
Audit the Fed, investigate the crooks behind the high frequency trading (HFT) and naked short selling scams. Lock all of those crooked bastards up and throw away the key. Jim Cramer and the rest of the “green shoot” propagandists at CNBC - booyah mofos. Johnny Law is going to catch up with you one day.

Look man, read the replies to the thread.
Nobody around here likes the fed. We can all agree.
Stop nuking the discussion with idiocy. Stop trolling.
Thanks.

If it's just another government agency, using government fantasy bookkeeping, and accountable to the same Congresscritters that got us into this mess in the first place, then we may as well stopUGH. Good point. If they're left wing, they'll come out praising Allah for placing Oboma on the holy throne. They'll claim Obomas policies of desolation actually saved the world from unfathomable disaster. Why, if Oboma had not been placed in power at this time - we would have all DIED!
(The left likes to use "The possibility of death on a world wide scale" in their propaganda pieces.)
I can see it all now.

Just checked OpenCongress.org and co-sponsors are now up to 276-House and 19-Senate.
