I think all conservatives, and all conservative media sources, blogs, forums, etc. should demand that that the tapes be released to "ensure that Professor Gates' own words can be heard by the public, thus keeping him from being oppressed by the racist white police power structure!"
Let the public hear for themselves Professor Gates using his vast intellect and superior vocabulary as he calmly and eloquently responded to the threats and intimidation of the jack-booted thugs.
