Most political town hall meetings are pretty dull affairs. Not this one.
The YouTube clip of an irate woman waving her birth certificate in a plastic bag and telling Delaware congressman Mike Castle that Barack Obama was born in Kenya, not the United States, has become an online sensation. Castle, a mild-mannered moderate, was booed when he insisted that our president is in fact a citizen. It's been on the Drudge Report, Rush Limbaugh and just about every political website out there. The session was so embarrassing that a Castle staffer felt obliged to tell a local columnist that the hecklers were from out of state.
The birther controversy has a tight grip on rightwing opponents who argue that Obama is not the lawful president. FactCheck.org took a thorough look at the issue and the birth certificate itself and concluded: "It meets all of the requirements from the state department for proving US citizenship."
The website went further: "We suggest that those who choose to go down that path should first equip themselves with a high-quality tinfoil hat." But the birthers seem immune to the lack of evidence. As Michael Tomasky points out: "He can't prove he's not a space alien either."
The nutty theories didn't end with the birth certificate. Members of the crowd told Castle that global warming is a hoax and just a theory like evolution. You can't tax carbon dioxide, he was told, because "trees need CO2 to make oxygen!"

Maybe the gutless Republicans embarrass the birthers.
Maybe the birthers are embarrassed by all the cowards in government who won’t enforce the Constitution.
Maybe it’s issues like this (amongst many others) that you cowards refuse to confront is why your favorable ratings are in the tank.
Maybe you should be more concerned about being embarrassed by that.
Like looking into a funhouse mirror, the nut sees nutty, but it isn't there.
This “mild-mannered MODERATE” also voted YES on Cap and Theft!! One of only 8 RINO’s to do so. Naturally to the Guardian he would be a moderate! So of course he is ashamed of actual conservatives and frightened to death that they might force him out from under his desk long enough to make another big political mistake.
Other way around!
Oh, OK, they say it isn't true, so, that ends the debate!
Got it...
This really should be about breaking open all his records, why the secrecy, what happened to transparency? Why does Obama go to great lengths to hide his history and the press gives him a pass. That is the story - the Secrecy Presidency - doing exactly what he accused Bush and Cheney.
Guardian is a left wing rag.
Uh, that's exactly the point of the 'birthers'. Where's the evidence.
Doesnt matter. This Barack having spent his formativ years in Indonesia is an islamic indonesian. Tha is one reason he is so American culture deficient. Dude, the guy is not an american. Worse than that he is a trojan to Americans. Lets go and ask a black MAN for his opinion!

and if you have time,
Funny how when there were doubts about W’s military service he opened up all of the records related to it and it totally blew away any credibility that his detractors had in this regard.
How does that Rand quote go about twisting the truth so much, that when many people hear it, it sounds like pornography?
And regarding global warming, I believe a greater percentage of Brits think it’s a hoax than Americans.
It's quite telling to anyone who grasps simple logic.
That video was unfrikken-believable! I do believe this issue is getting some legs!!!
Many would view that quote as being nutty. But I get exactly what he's saying. Does that make me nutty?
Obviously this issue is starting to hit home.
Anyone who thinks that any scientific theory is revealed truth is absurdly uneducated. Even the models surrounding gravitational phenomena are still mere theories, no matter how well any of them happens to accord with our observations. In science, if a better theory comes along, then the current one will get the boot. The process of science involves the testing of hypotheses and theories, and upgrading them as their weaknesses appear.
Anthropogenic global warming (AGW) isn't even a good hypothesis, since it doesn't seem to be falsifiable: no matter what event occurs, it is immediately evidence for AGW. In mathematics, a hypothesis that leads to the ability to prove any statement, no matter the second statement's truth or falsity, is itself fallacious (in fact, the process of assuming that a statement is true and showing that assumption leads to a false statement is a well-respected way to show that the original statement is indeed false.)
For instance, assume 1=0. From there, you can "prove" that 5=3:
Assume 1 = 0, add 1 to both sides three times: 1+1 = 0+1 2 = 1 2+1 = 1+1 3 = 2 3+1 = 2+1 4 = 3 Again, since 1 = 0, you can also add each to both sides and preserve equality: 4 + 1 = 3 + 0 5 = 3
The fact that a statement can literally be used to prove everything without limit is a very strong clue that the statement itself is not true. AGW is such a statement: no matter what observation is made, the global warmers shout "It's evidence for AGW!" Until they come up with at least one way to falsify AGW, it's not even a hypothesis.
