Why was this a ‘bad’ move? They were on patrol, seems an obvious thing to do to me.

Our neighborhood watch have huge magnetic signs that are used on the front doors of the volunteer vehicles.
Most of them are retired couples.
No possibility of this kind of screwup.

I did Neighborhood Watch for years, decades actually. We never went out on patrols without magneticized signs on the car to clearly identify NW. Even if the girls didn’t see the signs, if they had them, the father should have.
