I remember a time he was ranting and raving against Bush, saying he should be impeached. A few weeks later I tune him in again and he's calling Bush one of the greatest Presidents ever. Do his regular listeners even notice these shifts? Do they care that he hates all other conservative talk show host, and has demeaning nicknames for each of them? And what about the times he has said he would never vote for someone who would go on Rush's show, or Hannitys, but not his.

Everything you said is true -- and I could tell even more! But..

shortly after he started his national show I had to adopt the position that as long as the good that he does outweighs the disagreeable I'll keep listening.

Before that I never missed any part of his show for years when his only station was KSFO.

He's explained his attitude toward other conservative hosts as part of the national medium's fierce competition and, in some respects, an attempt to goad them into being more conservative and less Republican. Personally I reject both explanations but for me it's still that good - bad balance.

For me the closest he's come to tipping the scale was the incipient attacks on Gov. Palin.
