I wasn’t sure who Joe Pyne was, had to look him up. Looks like he came from the same era as Bob Grant. I’ve always thought that a lot was stolen from him.

That being said, imitation is a sincere form of flattery.

I don’t listen to Savage much. Levin is in my drive time and I enjoy the history dispensed between the rants.

And I couldn’t agree more...I hope they keep up using their voices as a force for this country!

I recall Bob Grant telling how he got started.

Unless I am misremembering he had to replace Joe Pyne who had been dropped overnight at WOR owing to the left wing hysteria following the JFK assassination.

I remember that the left tried hard to blame the emerging modern conservative movement's criticism of JFK for Oswald's actions. Pyne was on a few hundred stations coast-to-coast.

He was forced off the air and I've read that some stations continued his show with recordings of past shows.

I did not know Pyne from his very popular radio show. I did like his TV show.

I already had radio favorites at the time.

BTW, the NY Times columnist and the dean of journalism of the day, James "Scotty" Reston lead the charge against the "hateful, violent" conservatives -- all the while real newspapers published stories of Oswald's communist connections. Nothing's changed.
