While I like Hanson ignores the role of credit, the tech and housing bubbles on the nation’s economy. He also is putting too much faith in the issue of debt on voter's decision making. In 2006 the vote as all about Iraq and a federal government that appeared incompetent as the economy had not tanked and the deficits were falling. In 2008 it was all about Bush fatigue, scandals, a desire for a new direction and the lack of a competent republican candidate.
The American people for the most part are too ignorant of the impact of policy decisions on their lives. It will be years before we have to face the music on what the Democrats have done since 2007 and especially starting this year.
