Screw them, Israel has only around 5% of the alloted land by the Balfour Accord. And any land taken in war is yours just ask Mexico if not then we need to give Texas, Arizona, and California back to Mexico.

Does that mean we owe Saddam an apology for Kuwait, "the nineteenth province"? Do we owe Hitler an apology for France, Scandinavia and Poland Do we owe Hirohito an apology for Manchuria?

As a matter of policy, most countries reject the idea that might makes right and any country's sovereignty is conditioned on the restraint of its most powerful neighbor. Ask the next Canadian you meet.

The U.S. conquest of the west has not been fully accepted by all Mexicans, btw and was controversial among Americans at the time. It is hard to justify on other than practical grounds. Don't even ask about the Indians. ("native Americans").

Be that as it may, Israel clearly seeks peace and accommodation. I sympathize with Arabs who see Israel as a Middle Eastern solution to a European problem. They lose my sympathy when they engage in terrorism against civilians. Modern Israel had a substantial Jewish population prior to the War and, of course it grew exponentially afterward. The Israelis want a homeland and a homeland in the historical and biblical home of the nation of Israel is as good as any.

What exists is a not a black and white issue of good guys and bad guys. There are legitimate conflicting claims on both sides. At the end of the day, I side with Israel, in part because the deli man and his wife in my neighborhood in Queens where I grew up had numbers tatooed on their arms and they never attacked a German or an Arab kindergarten.
