Black and African American seem to be used more or less interchangebly these days.

I think the reason the ad read “black” instead of “African American” is that “African AMERICAN” would “discriminate” against illegal aliens.

If a white person was born in Africa and emigrated to the U.S., wouldn't they be "African-American?"

No African-American is a Jesse Jackson elitist term. We always call ourselves Black.
