Actually these people control the media and spent so much money to elect Obama president that as far as I am concerned they just pay it. Not to mention how many corporate gifts their are to kook left wing groups like Acorn and others. All of the foundations they set up are left kook in nature. so as far as I am concerned they just pay.

All this means is:
1) for corporate execs their compensation will be adjusted up accordingly and factored into the price of the products/services their company sells
2) for self-employed they will either factor it into their goods/services or cut back on other expenses like employees or other productive capacity.

Will never be a net addition to the economy. The government may think it is taking it from a handful of millionaires when really it is being paid by the vast middle class when the price of food goes up a nickle, or electricity goes up a $1, or [fill in the blank] rises to cover it.

The liberals are stuck on stupid

This is a dumb idea. If they only tax the millionaires at 5.4%, then I won't get any of it. I say tax them at 54%, so I can get my share.

Or better yet-- just tax the zillionaires at 100% and we will all get free health care AND ICE CREAM!

Poor headline wording. Those with $1 million in income per year doesn’t equate with ‘millionaire.’

This wonderful congress, doing the will of the people, should declare an emergency, confiscate all wealth, and re-distribute it as they see fit.

It’s only fair, dontcha know?

/S/

IMHO

The tax rate is higher than the 3 percent surtax lawmakers had been discussing earlier and would be imposed on those making more than $1 million a year...

As others post above, the net gain to the Treasury will be negative.

The useful fools in the Congress cling religiously to the false notion that raising taxes equates to greater revenue (even though so many of them have had such astounding memory lapses when it comes to reporting their own income.)

From their perspective, it's important to settle a score with those greedy "millionaires", even if it costs a million jobs of the "millionaires'" soon-to-be-former employees.

The real horror will begin when they are no longer satisfied with an income tax, and want a “wealth tax”. So even if you earn nothing, but have a million dollars, they can keep taxing and taxing and taxing it.

“From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” (or needs)

is a slogan popularized by Karl Marx in his 1875 Critique of the Gotha Program.[1] The phrase summarizes the principles that, under a communist system, every person should contribute to society to the best of his ability and consume from society in proportion to his needs, regardless of how much he has contributed. In the Marxist view, such an arrangement will be made possible by the abundance of goods and services that a developed communist society will produce; the idea is that there will be enough to satisfy everyone’s needs.”

The above is a quote from Wikipedia.....
It perfectly describes this proposal, along with others.

Why do we even bother with the entire equal protection under the law crap anymore?

This entire administration and 99.9% of our elected officials should be in prison.

This won’t effect most people, so in the country today no one will care. The whole idea of right or wrong is irrelevant.
