I have a thick skin and while being a conservative, have taken my shots here for some commentary not always agreed with. But WHY give assholes like Parry and Kos any ammo at all?
Plenty to attack Obama on without resorting to race and attacking his children. Those are guaranteed losers.
Of course not, even the best of folks mouth off, and, especially with the anonymity of the Internet, many folks think they can take the line of decorum and decency and push it that much further. There are also the personality types who make comments like this simply for the attention and like to cause trouble. This is true of ALL internet forums, not just here. Heck, I am a long time member of eGullet, a foodie forum not dissimilar to FR except the conversation is all about food, and you'll find just as many of these types of comments there.
The difference is, do they represent the whole of the site, or are they an exception.
Here is an example, why doesn't anyone ever target Stormfront or LibertyPost for comments like these? It is because that is the norm for those sites, thus, it is not news. If someone posts something like that here, however, because it is out of the norm, it suddenly blows up like this.
It is the old adage about the media never reporting on all the cars that didn't get in a wreck.
Are you seriously suggesting that the entire site is tainted because a few signups posted stupid comments about Obama's daughters? I can't wait to see your next article where you argue that the Internet is tained because people use it to argue that the Holocaust never occurred..
Hey bob! I have been a fan of your writings for some time now. I have seen racial slurs on FR, but in each case, others take the posters to task, and most of the posts get pulled. I know, because I have been a FR addict for many years, and I have blasted the racial slurs, as well as saying that kids of politicians should be OFF LIMITS.
Thats why that thread is suspicious, mostly noobs posting the vile stuff, and I am virtually CERTAIN that there are still trolls on here trying to make FR look bad. One got booted just a few hours ago (ProudPalinSoldier, I called them out this afternoon and others must have hit the abuse button to alert the mods).I think the trolls here are kind of obvious, with their over-the-top verbal diarrhea.
I also have no doubt that there are some FR "regulars" that sometimes post vile crap like that, but thats how it is in every group. Its a damn shame these IDIOTS make the 99% of us look bad.
If any "real" Freepers actually said anything like that, they should man up and admit it, and publicly apologize, and then submit themselves to the judgement of their peers. Probably wont happen, because its too easy to hide, but such is the nature of the internet.
We've been around here about the same amount of time, and we both know that, as a general rule, racism is not tolerated on FR. (More leeway is given on certain threads, such as Cincinatti race riot threads). It won't get folks bounced as fast as anti-semitic comments, but it will get folks bounced.
While I sometimes disagree with the mods, the do a good job of policing the threads. If you see something that you think is out of line, hit the abuse button. If the mods disagree, then perhaps you are being too sensitive. And how many of the comments were posted by trolls?
As far as injecting race into the debate, Obama has opened the door on that subject, with comments like '...the blood of Africa in my veins."
Of course, I'm just a Cracker, so what do I know about racial slurs.

First of all a compliment on forthrightly posting a column here even when you where discouraged about what you had heard and partially seen. It is a great compliment that you trusted us enough to post something critical. Thanks for the vote of fellowship.
Secondly the people hear are giving you both the back-story and the “rest-of-the-story” that you hadn’t heard but you knew you could depend upon that feedback to get fully up to date on the no-line comentary.
Like the MSNBC commentator who is going to comment on this tomorrow morning, who neglects to point out that he used comments on the Clinton’s “pinping out” Chelsea a decade ago himself.
But really, the bottom line is that while there were trolls and disrupters, we on the conservative side have hangers-on that are actually reactioaries. Some are nonsensically attached to prejudices and temperments of a decade ago. The left has their leftist revolutionary killers and we have our old-goats that we lambast when we can. I am sure there is a taint of that sort of ooverblown character who frequents a site of any political flavor.
Every President and many candidates have been through it long before the computer age. It goes with the territory. But PC political speach that is always sensitive to the left is not something we respect a whole lot, you and I. I wish I could have been on the thread and added resonable chastisement as do many others — the Obama continual campaign instead of reasonable executive service is a trial with each new day bring a new mess — so we can’t be everywhere.

Did not the repeated phrases “ghetto”, “street trash”, by different posters and the repeated use of “long time posters” by the complainer cause you some suspicion? To me it sounds just like the MSM commentators all using similar phrases when they are following the daily Democrat talking points. That in itself should have made you suspicious.
I think you took advantage of a probable fraud in an attempt to make yourself look good, or at least objective, instead of doing some investigations of your own.
From the history of FR on these kinds of things the least you could have done was hold your water until some Freeper checked it out. Now you should see that. If not, check with Dan Rather and Mary Mapes and the Obama birth certificate posters.
Just one question for you:
Why is it OK with you that Chelsea Clinton and the Obama kids are off-limits / out of bounds, but that Sarah Palin’s kids and the Bush twins are fair game?
Until you can satisfactorily explain your pathetic acceptance of these “rules”, you have no place in conservative discussions.
