Chris, you were part of creating the story. That is important information for the reader. The fact that you post about baseball and martial arts means nothing in the context of your story. You were in a sense “lying by omission”. I think that readers that expect “journalism” might want to know that you had a stake in the story.
I appreciate what you’re saying here, but I don’t see any ‘stake’ in the story. If dKos had insisted on keeping up similar comments, I would have written it about them.
In fact, in recent months I’ve posted more comments there attacking editorial policy (specifically as it pertains to the newspaper industry) than supporting it.
If there’s anything in my story that was incorrect, let me know. Otherwise, however I might vote, it’s news.
