That being said, I will offer that for me the dust up over this specific thread is a tipping point for the board as a whole. There is a continued degeneration of post quality here with more and more of our posts being one-liners in which Freepers fall over each other to be first on any thread to crack wise.
There is the matter of the profanity and vulgarity that supposedly shocks us when we see it on the leftist sites; but more and more of it is allowed here.
To the issue of racism: I will attest that my experience (and I am on here a LOT) is that overt racism is promptly dealt with and I do not mind revealing that I have hit the RA button more than once when racist drivel is posted. I have never seen a post that I reported be left up. We do a good job policing ourselves and helping the mods.
Where it gets dicey is some folks attempts at wit and ironic comment. What someone thinks they are communicating can send an unintended message through unskillful use of the language.
Back to topic - Question: Were you actually on that thread?
I've noticed in the past that action is rarely taken on any of my late night "abuse buttons" until the next morning.
I would argue that from what I've seen of the original thread that none of it was racist ~ unless it's "racist" to use words like "whore" and "mother" ~ that sort of thing falls into the "don't say nothin' bad about the brother" category. You can't win a debate against such people of course.
However, this puke is from OZ and Canada. Their whole take on what is or is not "racist" is dramatically different than our own. I think they are currently going through the sufferings and agonies of Hell itself by making the word "black" per se racist if mentioned in public.
The joke is on Shuster and his running dog lackeys at MSNBC if he was going to run with Parry's phony story.
