D’oh!

//

For god’s sake, people, move to Canada. (4.00 / 7)
I’m a fairly recent immigrant to Canada, and here’s my story:

I chipped my tooth shortly after moving to the US five years ago. Couldn’t afford to get it fixed at the time, so I figured I’d just brush brush brush and it’d maintain the status quo for a while... but it didn’t. The tooth got infected, soon started going black, and I just didn’t have the money to get a root canal and have it fixed.

Soon the headaches started as the infection would begin traveling. My immune system would fight it off, but I was in an industry with no union, and the money I was making was not great. Working for the love does not do much good for your health in the US.

Anyway, I started doing things like eating heavily salted foods, because that would kill infections for a while, and eating on the right hand side of my mouth to keep the irritation down. And of course, during sleep, I would grind the sore part of my teeth.

Eventually my jaw began to misalign. And then my wisdom teeth started to kick in. So I did all I could to finally fix the situation... I moved to Canada.

Now, the Canadian health system doesn’t give you free dental, but dental is a lot cheaper here, so I could get the small stuff seen to. And what’s more, there are unions here, so when I got a job, I also got dental coverage. Dental coverage that includes pre-existing conditions, and covers 100% of the cost. No deductibles!

Over the last two months, I’ve visited the dentist eight times, received one root canal, five fillings, crowns, I’ve had my mercury amalgam fillings replaced with white ceramic fillings (again, no expense to me), got a grind-guard and the wisdom teeth come out next week.

In that time, my wife got pregnant, and everything was covered by the national health insurance system, from private room to pre-natal massage to home visits by a nurse after the fact to ensure everything is great with the kid.

I also chipped my ankle playing softball - again, covered, from emergency room care to follow-up physio - all covered.

People. I beseech you. Please move north. For the sake of your health, for the sake of your children. It cost me $2000 to get residency. It took me four months. And I tell you now, I’ll never leave.

Fool me once, I’ll punch you in the fucking head.

Nice. (none / 1)
You think I’m over-privileged? Did you not read how I didn’t visit the dentist because I had no money?

But I did, on the other hand, have five years to scrape together a few pennies at a time, borrow a little from friends and family, sell a car, put all my belongings on eBay and convince some company that should have known better to give me a credit card.

I didn’t find two grand behind the couch. I made it happen. I suggest, rather than bitching about how you’re stuck, you find a way to unstick yourself.

Fool me once, I’ll punch you in the fucking head.

What a rube. (none / 0)
Uh-huh... selling my stuff on eBay means I’m a thief. Gotcha. Hilarious logic there.

I paid off my credit cards with the better paid job I got in Canada. I was unemployed for exactly three days after getting my residency. I pay my taxes (which are lower than they were in the US, by the way). I’m raising a family. I’m a model citizen.

And just so you know, if you APPLY FOR RESIDENCY in a new country they WANT YOU TO WORK. They make you a resident if they can see you WILL work.

It’s how you end up being a productive member of society, jackass.

Did I lie to a credit card company to get the means to move? Absolutely. Did I pay every cent back regardless, as anyone else would? Absolutely.

But you? All you do is sit back and say “woe is me, things should change,” without ever taking responsibility for changing your own situation.

You want to fight for a better America? How you going to do it? By voting? Well guess what - I still vote in American elections. I’m doing the exact same thing you are to help make things better - only my kid has free health care while I do it.

Enjoy your teeth, Jethro.

Fool me once, I’ll punch you in the fucking head.

there ain’t nothin like a leech.

He could scrape together 2K to go to canada, but not to care for his teeth. Fixing the tooth when it happened would not have cost 2K.

my wife got pregnant

He didn't have anything to do with it?! lol!

So, he moved to Canada for 'FREE' health care (living off the backs of others)! But, he still votes in the US?! I think we should check that out!

Well, it was only an itsy-bitsy fraud.

Lied to get a credit card, eh? Spent $2000 to go to Canada to get a “free” root canal instead of paying to have it done here? The Canadian citizenry must love that. LOL. Oh, those posts are rich in a lot of ways. Nice that he still votes here. LOL

CERTIFIED WHACKO...and I use that term only in the comical sense. The guy’s infection must have ate up his brain.

It seems Mr. Parry has no desire to spend his money to support his family's health, but he does have money for gambling on sports. From his twitter page:
Dropped $40 overall on UFC 100. Stephan Bonnar loss to Cardiac Coleman killed my profits.

@derrickpenner No. No, I do not. Nor does the $40 I dropped. :(

@Dantomato Kinda. I was calling in lines between fights from the bar. Guy's gotta enjoy himself sometimes! Your girl sounds happy in Vegas.

Interesting priorities. Source: http://twitter.com/chrisparry

Mr. Parry, if you're reading this, I've already screen-captured the page with the above quotes.

How does he still vote here when he only lived her for 5 years of his entire life and is now a citizen of Canada?
