Many of the right have been ignoring the left's complaints that conservatives are racist and shouting "political correctness" for a few decades now and over that time we've gone from the General Lee in the Dukes of Hazzard being considered a fairly harmless symbol of Southernness to being a controversial racist symbol. We're losing the battle and doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is a sign of insanity (or masochism).
