Not at all clear to me that this is the average Persian. I wish it was, but I lived through the 60s here in the US. You could hardly call the anti-war movement then to be widespread. It got coverage, but wasn’t very deeply rooted across the country. I believe the same is true here. If the movement in Iran WAS pervasive and deeply rooted, then we’d start seeing dead mullahs. We haven’t.
If the recent million-strong protests haven't given an indication... the will is there, but not the means. Unarmed protestors are being crushed down by armed thugs.
You see... the people of Hungary and East Germany also wanted to get rid of the Commies... but they were crushed. The lack of means to free yourself is no indication of a lack of will.
