I haven't seen an immigration hawk in any competitive race win on that issue, although many have tried.
Dubya got elected by small margins with a percentage of the Latino votes we aren't going to see again for a long, long time because of all the immigrant bashing. Do the math - it isn't pretty.
What a crock, Mcpain, the biggest Amnesty, anti-border, pro-illegal-immigrant supporter lost by a wide margin. And the only reason "the Destroyer of the Republican Party", Bush, won his last election was because Kerry was such an anti-military POS.
Had there been a true Conservative in the last election, we might have been able to overcome the no-more-bush's stigma. If Republicans don't win the Whitehouse for a long time to come it will be because RINO's are still running the party.
“because of all the immigrant bashing”
because of the WHAT?
By refusing to use the word ILLEGAL, you are part of the problem.
Less than 14% latino....in 2000, huh. That was 1.7% higher than the national average. But it’s up near 20% now.
Lets see how the other border fence hawks did in 2008 then......
In the CA 46th district Rorhbacher won 52-43%, (17% hispanic in 2000).
In CA 42 , Miller won 60-40, (24% hispanic in 2000)
In CA 25, McKeon won 58-42% (27% Hispanic in 2000)
In CA 44, Calvert won 51-48% (35% hispanic in 2000)
In CA 50, Bilbray won 50-45% (19% hispanic in 2000)
In Tx 32, Sessions won 57-40% (36% hispanic in 2000)
In Tx 24, Kenny Marchant won 56-41% (18% hispanic in 2000)
In Tx 14, Ron Paul regularly wins with more than 60% (25% hispanic in 2000)
In Tx Smith won 80-20% (18% hispanic in 2000)
But keep pretending, skippy.
