Live Thread: Michael Jackson Memorial Service
Tuesday, July 7, 2009 | Kristinn

Posted on 07/07/2009 7:58:55 AM PDT by kristinn

The Jackson family has decided to bring Michael's body to the memorial service being held today at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, putting off the announced plans for a private internment at Forest Lawn cemetery from 8 a.m. PDT to after the service.

The 10 a.m. PDT service is being broadcast on all the major American broadcast and cable news networks, as well as in theaters across the country, the Times Square jumbotron in New York City and on TV screens around the world.

From Entertainment Weekly, performers and friends expected at the service include: Kobe Bryant, Mariah Carey, Berry Gordy, Jennifer Hudson, Shaheen Jafargholi, Magic Johnson, Martin Luther King III, Bernice A. King, John Mayer, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Rev. Al Sharpton, Brooke Shields, Usher and Stevie Wonder.

Michael's Jackson's close friend Elizabeth Taylor declined an invitation to speak at the service, writing in part on Twitter: "I cannot be part of the public whoopla."

In a strange but fitting twist of fate, the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus elephant parade through the streets of Los Angeles is set to take place this morning with the elephants arriving at the Staples Center just hours before the service for the circus' scheduled run at the arena.

I hope you are wrong...that beautiful little Paris touched my heart, she loved her 'daddy' & she is hurting.

May the angels watch out for these children & may God hold them dear.

Do you suppose that any of the kids inherited their dad's singing/dancing abilities?

You're kidding, right?

>When I die, I expect you guys to do something like this.<

We’ll be sure to book Nikki Giovanni to recite one of her bestest poems for ya.

But wait! There's more! Not only will the Solid Gold Dancers be there, there will be an tribute by KC & the Sunshine Band and Donna Summers who will sing Bad Girls

Last Dance will be the closer at the end.

You will be wearing a genuine Polysester Leisure Suit

But that's not all! Not to be outdone by MJ your casket Appy Pappy will light up the night sky.

And although I can't make any promises, we are working on Travolta.

The kids are tragedies. They do seem sweet, and I pray that they are innocents who will be able to live lovely lives—no matter who raises them.

(KEEP DAMNED OLD JOE AWAY!!!! In fact, choose who raises them BY THE DETERMINATION of WHO is most likely to keep the dirty old bastard away from them!)

Exactly what I was thinking, especially when Jermaine said he had his back..........

Jermain gets my award for most unique hairstyle I’ve seen in a long time. It looked like he mixed steel dust particles with glue and slathered it all over his head, then brushed straight back

the wife watches it.....she is not fat either.

but I hate that channel...

food is food, make it palatable, eat it and then go on with your day.....too much time spent on it and there is a preponderance of heavy folks who study the channel.

to each his/her own though.
