Palin fires back at critics on Twitter: Rebuts talk-show criticism

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin used her Twitter page Sunday to fire back at critics seizing on her decision to abruptly resign from office this month and to rebut speculation of an FBI investigation.

Shortly after lawmakers, pundits and political strategists took to the Sunday morning television talk shows to call her decision to step down a political mistake, Mrs. Palin posted several Tweets on the social-networking Web site aimed at reassuring supporters that she had made the correct decision.

"Critics are spinning, so hang in there as they feed false info on the right decision made as I enter last yr in office to not run again," wrote Mrs. Palin, who has been considered a likely Republican presidential candidate in 2012.

A few hours later, in an attempt to debunk speculation that her pending resignation was linked to a rumored FBI investigation, she posted a link on her Twitter page to a Los Angeles Times article that quoted an agency official saying that there was "absolutely no truth" that the FBI was investigating the governor.

Mrs. Palin also earlier in the day posted a link to a letter from her attorney, Thomas Van Flein, which pushed back at allegations, saying that Mrs. Palins resignation had nothing to do with the rumored criminal investigation that she illegally intervened in the construction of a sports complex in Wasilla, the Alaska town where she formerly served as mayor.

But many political figures say that Mrs. Palin's abrupt resignation will haunt her if she decides to run for president.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a potential GOP rival of Mrs. Palin in 2012, on Sunday called her decision to step down from office a "risky strategy" politically.

Huck of all people loses if she runs. His base is hers. But her base is much more diverse. He’s all done if she runs. And he knows it.

Dick Cheney’s successful speaking out on terrorism proves that a spokesperson for CONSERVATISM can be very successful at this time.

Shut up Huckabee, we pick Sarah over you anyday.

I love it now that we can see Sarah be the moose hunter she really is. No pesky being in a political office to hold her back.

AND, with all the wienyness Obama is showing, people will beg to have her defend them.

I do not understand why the public has not risen up and gone after the money (advertisers) behind the reporters that have been so ugly to her and her family. They are saying the things they say because WE HAVE ALLOW IT. There is an old saying “money talks and BS walks”. Folks, it is time we TAKE BACK America and mandate common decency from the sharp tongued left now!

yup.

And if there was ever one person that she could choose from as a tutor on foreign policy, I would choose Cheney. Ya never know what goes on behind the scenes...I would like to think that she’s been in touch with and has the support of the Cheneys, Dick, Lynn and Liz.

I generally like Sarah, but I get nervous when she dismisses the Republican party. Is she against Republican Values or just Republican Politicians?

Maybe it is just me, but I cannot think of anything the Rats could get right.

The huckster... who actually was convicted of ethics violations... a man that protected his son... the one that tortured and killed an innocent dog for fun... that sick, demented socialist who practices the worst type of cronyism... offers nothing but lies and self promotion.

When did she ‘dismiss’ the Republican Party? And if “Republican values” are defined by that group’s behavior in the last several years we are surely better off without them.

The repubic machine is broken... I have never voted for anyone but a repubic in all of my life... but I despise the party and its leadership and unlike the decades of the past... I have not and will not donate another dime to them until they clean house of the corruption and leftist trash.

I will never vote for a liberal... that is what Sarah is saying... and millions of us agree with her... including Rush, Levin and Malkin.

From my perspective, the R party has dismissed conservative values for a while - at least since 2004. (Was Medicare part D put together in W’s first term or second?)

I am unconcerned about the fate of the party. I am very concerned about the fate of conservatism.
