I wouldn't doubt that he wrote it himself. They style is kind of pedestrian, nothing exceptional for an Ivy League college senior.

On second thought, he might have done the draft and then had someone more senior edit it, putting in some more sophisticated words and phrases. (William Ayers - known to be in the neighborhood at the time?)

Showing this piece under his byline might have helped get him into Harvard Law School a few years later, although he's known to have had wealthy Saudi backers by then.
