Israel, Fighter Jets, Submarines, Satellites and Iran
By Joel Leyden
Israel News Agency
Jerusalem, Israel ---- July 5, 2009 ...... As Israel receives explicit consent from Saudi Arabia to use their airspace to two defend both nations from a nuclear Iran, Israel maintains several other options to defend herself from an Iran nuclear threat.
The Sunday Times of London reported today that Israel Mossad director Meir Dagan has held secret talks with Saudi officials to discuss the possibility of using Saudi Arabia airspace for a air strike to take out Iran's nuclear weapon manufacturing facilities.
"The Saudis have tacitly agreed to the Israel air force flying through their airspace on a mission which is supposed to be in the common interests of Israel and Saudi Arabia," the Times quoted a diplomatic source as saying.
Israel and Saudi Arabia have no formal diplomatic relations but Mossad has "working relations" with the Saudis, the newspaper added, citing an Israeli defense source.
But perhaps more potent than combat jets are the dozens of Israel navy submarines patrolling the world's many seas.
An Israel submarine sailed through the Suez Canal into the Red Sea in a trek that many are interpreting as a direct warning to Iran.
An Israel defence official said the Dolphin-class submarine made the passage last month from a Mediterranean naval base to take part in maneuvers off the Israel Red Sea resort of Eilat.
Israel does not publish details of the type of armaments it possesses but some foreign media reports say Dolphin-class subs can fire nuclear-tipped cruise missiles. Officials said the voyage was made overtly, with the vessel on the surface.
Iran has repeatedly stated that they would "wipe Israel off the map". A threat not taken lightly in Jerusalem.
The IDF has and continues to go through several war exercises in preparation of a defensive war with Iran.
As recent as last month, children in every school from Metulla in the North to Eilat in the South ran into protected rooms during an Israel civil defense drill to prepare the children for such a war. Those traumatic moments of running into cement air sealed rooms will be remembered by these young children, their teachers, their parents and the Israel government.
"Israel has several options of defending herself in a war with Iran, Syria and terror groups Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah," said an Israel security analyst. "Our war would not be with the Iran people, but rather with an oppressive government for which the Iranian people don't want. As such, any action that Israel would take would avoid the civilian population. But should the Iranian government attack Israel, our invisible submarines could turn all of Iran into a desert. A greater defense that Israel could use could come from above. And I am not talking IAF combat jets, but rather satellites that may or may not be equipped with precision laser weapons that could burn and evaporate a building from the heavens above. Any war with Iran would represent a one way ticket to 72 virgins for the present Iran regime."
Dozens of submarines?! I just can't fathom Israel having 24 or more subs. The cost would be simply prohibitive for such a small country.
They have the Goldeneye! :o
are you kidding me? According to the Iranians, they have legions of spy squirrels in Iran...why can’t they have dozens of submarines too?
It’s the satellite comment that seems to be the real BS. Does the US have such satellite based weapons to vaporize entire countries?
We're afraid of a Jooish submarine,
A Jooish submarine,
A Jooish submarine.
We're afraid of a Jooish submarine,
A Jooish submarine,
A Jooish submarine.
It's so hard to make Jihad,
When you're facing the wrath of God,
We can launch a missile; they
Can drop a bomb on us, Allah oy vey!
RE: Does the US have such satellite based weapons......
You wouldn’t believe...
"Based at Haifa, the Israeli Navy (IN) currently operates three modern, diesel-electric, Dolphin-class submarines. The IN is reportedly interested in acquiring at least two more units. In December 2003, two of Israel's three decommissioned Gal-class submarines arrived in Kiel for refits and modernization at Germany's Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft. They are to be reactivated for the IN.[1]

S. intelligence agencies believe China performed a successful anti-satellite (asat) weapons test at more than 500 mi. altitude Jan. 11 destroying an aging Chinese weather satellite target with a kinetic kill vehicle launched on board a ballistic missile.” - http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/story_channel.jsp?channel=space&id=news/CHI01177.xml
Lasers should be able to operate both ways ;>

The thought of ever living in NYC horrifies me. If I want to live amongst the mentally ill, I'll move into an insane asylum. Remember, liberalism is a mental disorder.
I have a problem with this. Israel subs going through Gulf. Israel planes flying over Saudi Arabia.
Sounds like a good time for an Arab trap to be set on Israel’s planes and subs.
