At the Special Olympics I read a newsletter or other publication where they said that they actually preferred it to be called “Down Syndrome” now. I’m just telling you what they said.

I don’t understand, personally, why they said that. Also, I don’t understand why they made it sound almost like it would be _better_ to call it “Down Syndrome,” as if the possessive (traditional) phrase had almost been offensive. If my memory serves me correctly.

I think I prefer the traditional way.

Thanks, that’s interesting .. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that before.

I agree - I like the traditional version better too.
