Why would we think Palin is great if she has resigned...we have no reason and she gave no reason. It is tough enough to put up a woman much less one who is a quitter...the night shows will characterize her as a quitter...she is finished as a national candidate.

Never believed it for a moment anyway.

I listened to her entire announcement. It was honorable, it was direct, and it punctuated the insane politics of our day...it also punctuated her personal commitment to fight, and to do so when it would not distract further from her job as Governor and the foundation she has built there.

I am proud of her and support her. She is a great American.

I think Sarah has just turned, like a fed-up mama Bear, on her detractors. She has put things in order, she has left them in the hands of capable people, and she has now turned to face her enemies directly.

...and I think they are going to be sorry. We have smelled the fear in them for a long time. Good on her!

I believe she will assist others greatly in 2010, and will run herself in 2012...and she has my full support.

It may appear that way, but she of modest means was literally hounded out of office (probably with Soros money) thrown at her with all these trivial ethics lawsuits. 16 of 'em, I understand, all frivolous. What the hell would you do? Stick with it and literally go bankrupt?

Family finances are definitely part of her equation, so now she can get really political on a national stage and be paid for it. At the same time--by resigning early--she can hand the stewardship of Alaska off to a trusted assistant who will now be allowed to complete the term and thus have a head start in the election in his own right.

Sarah will be in demand. She will build support from those whom she helps with appearances, speeches, etc....earn some chips to be called in later. She can take on Obama's idiocy head on if she wants without being charged with ignoring Alaska, or preening for national attention while she should be tending to her state. In fact, part of her stump speech will promote Alaska's energy resources, which directs the debate back to Obama and his energy policies.

I love this move. I hope its what she has planned. Jeez...I wish I could be paid to rip Obama!

The Palin's have a strong sense of right and wrong and what they're seeing is all wrong and this could be a way to address it. It's a winner on all counts. Any bad publicity will be immediately forgotten the moment Sarah headlines a big fundraiser and brings down the house. It's brilliant!

There is a disconnect between Palin’s AK staff and DC opertions. For example, Sarah PAc told the NRSC that Palin will attend a fundraiser for Congressional Republicans. But Palin, herself, said she couldn't attend due to other commitments. I think is done as a politican. But she will raise moneythru her PAC and make speeches for Autistic children charities and Right to Life groups.

I don't know where you get your info, Newbie, but could you just be honest and say, "I hope she is done" instead of pretending to have some kind of detached objectivity.

I stopped at msnbc. Mark Simone on Hannity's show had a radio host saying exactly the opposite. Nothing criminal going on up there. When any politican abruptly resigns that's always the customary early speculation. Not with the Palin's I'll bet my left arm.

Not me. I place todays politicians below lawyers holding their breath under slugs.

They are inevitably self centered, cowardly thieves whose only goal is to get re-elected by taking one persons money at the point of the states gun and giving it to someebody else who can provide votes.

So, in a way I hope she does get out of politics and instead simply become a spokeswoman for what is right.
