GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM, NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER
State of Alaska Governor's Office ^ | 3 July 2009 | State of Alaska Governor's Office

GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER July 3, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin announced today that she will not seek a second term as Governor of the State of Alaska and will relegate the power of governor to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell in order to serve Alaska’s best interests. Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will move into Parnell’s current role.

“People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing's more important to me than our beloved Alaska,” said Governor Palin. “Serving her people is the greatest honor I could imagine.” Standing outside her home in Wasilla, Alaska, Governor Palin reflected upon some of the administration’s accomplishments for Alaska as she approaches her final year in office. “I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is not the easiest path,” said Governor Palin after the announcement. “Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional ‘Lame Duck’ status in this particular climate would just be another dose of ‘politics as usual,’ something I campaigned against and will always oppose. It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success. I look forward to helping others – to fight for our state and our country, and campaign for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops, and energy independence.” The transfer of power will occur following the Governor’s picnic in Fairbanks on July 26. At that point in time, Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell will be sworn in and Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will assume his role as Lieutenant Governor. Governor Palin will spend July 4th in Juneau.

Well the ABC media I just heard is not happy with her announcement, rather very angry sounding guy. They are so afraid of her and now they are concerned she is going for Prez. Beautiful Sarah beside the swarmy, teleprompter Zero.

They might try but she’ll uncork the zinger that Obama has left some unfinished terms as well as well as some 130 “I vote present” votes as well!

Re: Let me go back to a comfortable analogy for me – sports… basketball. I use it because you’re naïve if you don’t see the national full-court press picking away right now: A good point guard drives through a full court press, protecting the ball, keeping her eye on the basket… and she knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can WIN. And I’m doing that – keeping our eye on the ball that represents sound priorities – smaller government, energy independence, national security, freedom! And I know when it’s time to pass the ball – for victory.

Okay, I am not a basketball fan at all but I get the point she is making. Yet flipping past CNN I saw the graphic of her announcement and the anchor was told she said from the quote: "...you’re naïve if you don’t see the national full-court press picking away right now: A good point guard drives through a full court press..." and the dumb sumbitch did not understand it all and tried to make it seem like Sarah was speaking gibberish.

It is going to be a hard, hard road to get past all those Palin-Haters in the Drive By Media, but she will have my 110 percent support! I pray to God we get her elected in 2012 before The Øbamanation and the Liberal Democrats completely destroy my nation!

Experience does not matter after Hussein. It just takes 600-700 mil

That amount of money wouldn't elect a McCain type candidate, you still need someone to attract the votes. You need a Palin type candidate.

It is now a chess game. Sarah has removed the target, and is now unencumbered by her office to speak the truth. That’s how I see it anyway.

Not even finishing her first term. Not too good. I guess I am left with Jindel — Smart, has character but little personal charisma and doesn't give exactly riveting speeches.

The new leader of the conservative movement may have just bubbled to the top.

What am i missing ? Did she say she was running for prez ? Lets see what her next move is

She did say she would help (campaign for) anyone who believes in this country, freedom and conservative principles (my words).

Sounds like we're about to meet a Sarah Palin unleashed!

He might now have 4 years of experience, but he did not when he ran, he did not complete his first term as senator, so and argument that Palin can't run due to a lack of experience is negated or at least diminished.

Wish she were running & wins a 2nd term as governor. The 2nd term would solidify her as NOT a lightweight.

I’m feeling better all the time about this. It’s a new era and she is new...in other words this may be unconventional but the best way to get Obama off balance. Rather than be stuck in office she’s free and can keep everyone guessing. I know a lot of folks are rightly concerned that her resignation is fodder for the snipers BUT they’re going to try and destroy her any way so why not throw a hail Mary curve ball?

It’s brilliant, she has thrown out the political playbook!

Look out for the Romneybots smearing every thread on this

"She been Quayled"

"She lacks gravitas"

"The Couric interview ruined her chances forever"

and my favorite - "I like her, but..."

I agree that the media made the most of it, but when I saw her stumble over that asinine question about how many regulations McCain had proposed over the years, I really felt sick to my stomach. The obvious answer would have been that we already have way too many regulations, and the ones we have are not being enforced correctly. Instead, SP said she didn’t know and would have to get back to KC on it. *sigh*

I really liked SP, but she was either naive or a little out of her league, because she didn’t seem prepared for just how vicious the liberal press is to a conservative in the national spotlight.

Personally, I think she is doing the right thing for her family, and I admire her for that. They have suffered enough. Oh, and I hate the jerks in the press.

Unfortunately, by 2012, that “community organizer” will have had four years’ experience in the highest office in the land and trying to make that argument will seem silly.

Yeah, four years destroying our country. In 2012 we are going to need a positive, freedom loving, proud American running against Obama. imo, Sarah would smoke Obama, even more now.

**“Having no pulpit and being in Alaska is not a good thing politically IMO.”**

She has one, she carries it with her. This is great news.

True. If she chooses, she could have an extraordinary influence on the 2010 elections.
