Obama confident in recovery despite jobs report

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama said Thursday that he remains confident the economy will turn around in the short term and the nation will prosper in the long term despite another dose of bad unemployment news. "And I'm absolutely confident that we can, at this period of difficulty, prove, once again, what this nation can achieve when challenged," Obama said in the Rose Garden after a meeting with executives from energy companies. Earlier, the government reported that employers cut a larger-than-expected 467,000 jobs in June. The unemployment rate climbed to a 26-year high of 9.5 percent. Obama called that report sobering news but better than the last economic quarter and a sign that the recession is slowing.

Is he serious? It was an energy company that laid my husband off in March, and he hasn’t been able to find a job yet.. certainly not with another energy company, in spite of years of experience.

Well, I certainly am getting a warm and fuzzy feeling from his confidence. No hope for a new job for my husband, but a warm and fuzzy feeling. Don’t think that will pay the bills, though.

Obama wants your husband to work for the ‘new’ fascist ‘green’ energy companies. Not sure what the job description will entail..but it is bound to be a doozy!

In all seriousness though...prayers for your family during these hard Obama times. My son works in the energy sector too and lots of his co-workers have lost their jobs at his company. He is very fearful of losing his by the end of the year if things don’t turn around.

Levin just made a point that makes total sense. Small business creates the majority of jobs in this country. Who is going to hire somebody right now knowing that there energy costs are possibly going to “skyrocket”. And, if you were going to be forced to pay for their health care and the government is going to set the premiums, how many new people would you take on? I don’t see how the unemployment picture is going to go anywhere but higher as small business owners actually eliminate employees to preserve capital.

“And I’m absolutely confident that we can, at this period of difficulty, prove, once again, what this nation can achieve when challenged,”

He should keep in mind that this nation can achieve, when challenged with difficulty, an impeachment.

How many people are actually still believing him? Is it people who don’t care about the unemployment rate, such as blacks and the far left? Unemployment is probably going to hit 13% or 14% before we see any “hope” or “change” in the economy.

This POS has lied more and broken a ton more promises in the 6 short months he’s been in office than even Bubba did. How much longer does this go on?

Until we do something about it, that’s how much longer. The burning question in my mind relates to ACORN: will there ever be a time that rats can be removed from office, given their massive voter fraud?

I think he understands numbers just fine.

I don’t think it’s accidental that he is destroying this country from the inside out like an extremely aggressive, fast-moving cancer. I think it’s a dangerous mistake to call him “stupid” or an “idiot.”

We have seen and read about tyrants and dictators take over countries throughout history and in today’s world. I don’t know why Americans just will not believe that it can happen here. The constitution only protects us as long as we elect people who believe in it and respect it. Giving executive or legislative powers to people who actively want to destroy the constitution will result in destruction of the constitution. It’s a no-brainer.

That’s precisely right. Ostammer’s method is just to simply lie when the truth is damaging to him.

Unemployment is at least 10% now because there are unemployed people not being counted because they’ve given up and their benefits have run out. Unemployment in these numbers has a snowball/vicious circle effect. When unemployment hits 13% or 14%, ostammer will simply lie about it. If he has to issue an EO directing the federal offices that keep and publish those stats to cease and desist in order to keep the truth from Americans, he will do so.

BTTT! Bears repeating...

Again. Obama won’t solve this any more than Clinton or Bush. We are still being kidded. There will no recovery without a job recovery. Jobs will not recover until the old exported jobs are returned or new non-government jobs are created and neither is happening.

The Clinton ‘the unemployed should learn computers’ has resulted in help centers throughout the world. The Bush ‘tax cuts to create jobs’ has resulted in jobs being created in other nations.. The Obama ‘green jobs’ will likely be another job illusion.

If Americans are not working, they are not buying. If they are not buying, business is losing money. If business is losing money, they are not hiring. If business is not hiring, there is no recovery.

What we are seeing is the result of the fleece trade deals started by Clinton and magnified by Bush. We export jobs, import product and send dollars to pay for imports. Those spouting ‘we are sending only paper’ see that paper come back to buy our real estate, companies and treasuries. It is lose-lose for America.

Real trade is we buy product from you and you buy product from us. Let’s get started.

Thank you for your prayers. I know of many others who are either out of work, underemployed, or fearful of a layoff. These are frightening times.

I don’t think the “green” companies want an honest accountant. They want someone who comes up with excuses to get taxpayer money.

But utter words about putting American self interest as priority one, and you get tagged with some pretty unsavory labels.

If a Chinese pipe wrench suddenly cost $75 each, how long would it take for American made pipe wrenches show up selling for $50?
