We need to make sure Steve Schmidt NEVER works for a national republican campaign again.

May want to pass that on to Mitt...

Not that it matters since he is doing exactly what Mitt would want...

Schmidt was importuned by several of the Republican aspirants for president earlier this year. (Mitt Romney sent him an antique chair to symbolize a seat at the table.) As a longtime admirer of McCain, he agreed initially to advise him from afar.

Steve Schmidt and Nicole Wallace are the sources of all this crap and are conduits to Frum.

Schmidt was already a disaster in the 2004 Bush re-election. He was partly responsible in turning a landslide victory against a eltist dilletante (Kerry) into a near loss.

McCain was a lost cause from the start, but when he picked Schmidt as his day-to-day campaign head it guaranteed defeat. Schmidt was more interested in currying favor with the Washington Post to write great Style section stories on him. Wallace was a former CBS/Couric associate who set Palin up for that knowingly biased interview when more objective interviewers were available.

If Palin made any mistakes, it was allowing Schmidt, Wallace, and other clowns to direct her appearance, speeches and public outings until she finally revolted. It was lost on them (and later caused a lot of their jealous slanders) that when McCain campaigned alone, nobody showed up, but when Palin was there, either alone or with McCain, huge crowds showed up. That rankled the Schmidt/Wallace insiders and their useful idiots like Frum.
