White House claims N. Korea sanctions are working By Sam Youngman Posted: 07/02/09 03:54 PM [ET]
Even as the North Koreans tested four more missiles this week, the White House said Thursday that tough new United Nations sanctions are showing signs of working.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs declined to say what evidence the administration has that the most recent round of sanctions were effectively tightening the noose on North Korea, and he warned that they will likely continue with provocative behavior.
"I think it is clear the sanctions are having an impact," Gibbs said.
When asked what the U.S. was doing in response to the most recent round of threats and missile tests from the country, Gibbs said "first and foremost, the administration is working to ensure the vigorous implementation of those sanctions."
"We continue to watch the North Koreans," Gibbs said. "They continue to do and say what they do and say."

This would be like Neville Chamberlain claiming that his policy towards Germany was working after Hitler gobbled up the rest of Czechoslovakia.

We now exist in a world in which "truth" is expressed through the Ministry of Information. Nothing that emanates from this administration can be taken at face value. Statements are devoid of factual content and have no reliable or intrinsic meaning.
The current dictator in waiting is creating a regime in which he or his mouthpiece can make a statement like this and no one will even dare to press for evidence, or basis in fact.
We all laughed at Baghdad Bob during the drive on Baghdad, but he has returned with a vengeance and he is no longer funny.
To: Sub-Driver
Well, actually, the North Koreans intended to launch five missiles, but because of the sanctions, were able to launch only four.
