the biggest lie in the whole nro article is when the NYT reporter is asking a question of McCain’s campaign manager in an email and she says “sorry for the loss”/ Yeah, right.

I don’t see why all these McCain people are so hard on themselves. Once the economy fell apart in Spetember he had zero chance of winning. None. Maybe he loses 51-49 instead of 53-46 if everything goes perfectly but does that really matter?

If someone were to make an objective list of problems wit the campaign or reasons he lost, she isn’t even in the top 100 probably.

She was the only reason he was even competitive throughout the beginning of Spetember and remarkably was slightly ahead and poised to win right before the Lehman Bros meltdown commenced and the economy underwent the worst 7 weeks since the Great Depression, all in the runup to the election.

Are they hoping to preserve their reputation for a future campaign? I don’t think it was ruined in the first place. Look at David Axelrod, before Obama, he was the mastermind behind John Edward’s gloriously successful victory in the Democratic primary of 2004. Oh wait, that’s right, Edwards did nothing in that primary. Plouffe, the so-called wizard behind the scenes worked on Gephardt’s magnificently succesful primary. Again, a total washout. I don’t think anyone who matters would look askew at some of these guys because of their performance on the campaign. Campaigns are all about being in the right place at the right time. If the economy had collapsed in Sept, 2004, Keryy would have been the star and all his people geniuses. Instead, it’s Obama.

So, what’s the point? What happened, happened. the economy did collapse and that was impossible to overcome. Why continue to air dirty laundry? What good does it serve? Are they advertising themselves to potential future employers?

And why is this getting so much attention? A longtime NYT writer who now works at the equally liberal Vanity Fair(and who seems to have some unhealthy fixation on the Governor’s appearance) just came out with a hit piece on who they see as the biggest threat to Obama’s continued power. No surprise there.

Lots of people have reason to go after her. The dems because she’s a threat to them and other Republicans becasue she is as well. So they are serving notice that they will do everything to hound her and attack her at every opportunity to drive her from the scene. But I think most folks see through it. Will some be affected? Yes. But the types who read and are influenced by Vanity Fair don’t really vote Republican or conservative anyway. It’s preaching to the choir.

The liberal and elite media lives in this conceit that Katie Couric or SNL swung the election. That Palin was the key factor. Please. Voters cared way more about seeing their 401Ks and the market go down the tubes. They cared way more about seeing unemployment skyrocket under a GOP President. About an unpopular that 65% of them opposed and that the GOP nominee championed. About a President that 75% of them couldn’t stand. Imean there were 100+ issues that were more important than some goofy sketch on a late night tv show or a 5 minute interview. Do they really think voters are so stupid and shallow they decide who to vote for for President based on a 5 minute clip from TV?

But yeah, it probably came from a few at the top.
