“as much as people bash Al Hamilton, he understood that the key to good government was fiscal conservatism and responsitiliby; that the US had to pay its debts, consistently, on time, and over time reduce those debts, or it would be no better than the Latin American countries.”
“or it would be no better than the Latin American countries.”

Pret’ much there, aren’t we?
“Reminds me of federal shutdown in late 1995.”

Who will blink in this case? As you recall the enemedia and socialists got sentiment behind the misnomer that that situation was the Rs fault. They couldn’t stand the heat. Someone suggested that we need to take over/make the media fair again to have a fighting chance in politics in this country and I can’t help but think there’s a point there. The ones who control the sheeple’s bleating, the ones who *form* their opinion with the drumbeat of story after story - are the ones that will win.
Two things differ from 1995 - the MSM continues to die. Andn conservative media alternatives do actually exist, do succeed and are watched by a fair number of indies...these trends offer hope.
Someone above mentioned that the Rs would cave. If they don’t cave - it will be a momentous line in the sand and could be heroic.
We need to rally them with our encouragement and even our support.
Libs ripped the MSM for being supportive of the GWB invasion of Iraq saying they didn't do their jobs. They may be right BUT we have more of a claim on the MSM electing Obama in worship mode. Of course they more than made up for correcting the libs complaints by going after Bush for >4 years. The media also worshiped Clinton/Gore in 1992, but they turned on them in 1993-94, then they turned on republicans in 1995,
The media was not supportive of Gore, but worships Obama, I could be wrong BUT predict that this Al Frankin 60 seats change will be the end of the 14 year democrats free pass, even now the media is questioning why democrats cant get things done.
To me too.
On the other hand, they've turned out just great! And well educated.
Most of the ones I know have a herd mentality. They just cannot think for themselves, and they are slaves to what they consider to be fashion or fashionable groupthink. Some of these are terrified of being ostracized by those they consider fashionable--or, horror of horrors, having the supposed fashionable look down their noses at them--or give them a supercilious look.
Many are just plain stupid.
Some are sociopathic.
Some are well meaning but misguided.
None of them are clear-thinking or particularly truthful.
Yes. In other words, they're nuts.
I think you're right. And most of these people are going to get the remedy.
A few--the sociopathic leaders of the "Liberal" movement--will do well. Such people do--though their lives are invariably miserable--and they invariably leave behind themselves a wake of misery.
All this is nothing new. It's been going on throughout history.
The Romans were ecstatic when Caligula--"Bootsie" as they called him--oh how they loved him--when Caligula came to power. And remember--after the fall of the Roman Republic, the Empire went from Octavius to "Bootsie" in just four generations--and Octavius was no goodguy.
And remember also, that George Orwell told the entire story all over again.
Many have. But many, many people just cannot learn.
I assume the IOUs are for people/companies doing business with the state government..
Seems to me they deserve everything they get for doing business with a corrupt criminal entity, that aids and abets illegal aliens, while forcing the legitimate working men and women to pay for it.
California is insane. They have destroyed their own economic base and want to destroy whats left of the state economy with tax hikes.
The Hollywood liberals are making movies in Canada
Seems like Mr Thomas was right
>>Taxpayer: “Where’s all the money?!”
California: “Ask GHWB, he burned it in iraq” <<
F.Y.P
Everybody in the US should agree that it is not the responsibility of the national government to guarantee state debt or obligations. This may be the test case. Let the Californians deal with their own problems. Oddly enough, one place they could look for inspiration is Massachusetts (not the commonwealth government though!) where Boston Globe employees have been told they’ll take a 23% pay cut. That might be a good benchmark for all salaries over say, $40,000. Also, tell pensioners that their cost of living increases will be capped at 2% and no pension will be funded over, oh...say the median income of an average California family (to include all the illegal ones).
She’s sounds like one of Scott Peck’s patients in People of the Lie.
