Sanford is not a crook in the sense the others are. Yes; he did wrong and should be drummed out of office; but I don’t believe he is a crook. And he is not the latest example.
Well, I actually think it’s a crime in terms of dereliction of duty, in leaving the state without anyone able to do anything, if something came up, in that period of time. I think it was five days.
AND..., you might not know it, but according to what I read, he couldn’t get back any sooner than five days, because that was the very next flight he was able to take to get back. There weren’t any flights in between, if an emergency had come up.
That’s criminal for the people of that state to have been without any governor for five days...
But, of course, there *are* other criminal things, too — that other politicians do. Some are of a higher order of criminality, and others are of a lower order, according to the opinions of different people.
It’s just that abandoning the people of that state to having *no governor* for five days and being unable to return in the meantime seems pretty darned criminal...
