USA is winning the final of the Confederation CUP, shortly before half time 2-0!!
What’s even worse is that it’s indistinguishable from normal soccer.
Yep. If the Lions were forced to be relegated to a lower division, their owners would care a lot more about winning.
In English football, relegation will kill your revenues, you literally have to give up some players to make up for the lost cash.
Wait a minute ...are you talking about Basketball? Or do you mean Hockey? All that moving around trying to (with prime futility) to accomplish a task, all sorts of arbitrary enforcement of rules (in basketball, since in Hockey that's a joke) with baked-in favoritism, and people trying to gain something for nothing (I'm sure people like Kobe could give a soccer team pointers in that ...as for Hockey, all the knocking around killed any braincells that could conceivably be used to fake well enough for anything to pass. They just simply brawl instead).
Now, let me go and see if I can catch some good ol' Oklahoman noodling ...after all, we all know that mucking about in muddy water in your inners trying to catch fish with your hands is something that can only be found in a third world nation (...wait a minute ...Oklahoma is in the Union ...darn it!) Guess I'll have to settle for spit shooting in Texas (always better after some chewing tobacca), or maybe the first-world sport of seeing how far I can toss cow dung ('dem 'ere frisbees are made in turd-world Red China, while good ol' Kansas cows made those fine aerodynamic mud-pies. Better American turds than Chinese plastic turds).
True, but that is after 3-4 years in college. I knew some college players in some of my classes—they really should not have been in college. Some were barely literate (no kidding).
They would be prime minor league prospects IMO.
You might be right.
Anyhow, those two are good lads. I have had a beer with the “slapper” once :-)
Why does everything has to be so bloody serious all the time.
As most of us Freepers know. There is plenty to be conserned about. Good to be able to unwind every now and again.
Almost a neccesity I dare say.
Cheers.
I don't really see where you're coming from on this. Teams work together to get into a scoring position, with the reward of such hard work being a goal.
There is constant action going on in a soccer game- the players are constantly in motion (they run something like 10 miles during an average game). That's what drew me to the sport, as opposed to say, football, where the players seem to spend the majority of their time lining up for a play, followed by a few seconds of activity. That's painful to watch for 3+ hours.
What about hockey, where one team can completely dominate a game, outshoot a team by a huge margin, and still lose because the opposing goalie stands on his head. That situation occurs much less in soccer, although pretty much yesterday, Tim Howard had the game of his life, but Brazil was just too much.
Cheers to you.
Sorry, soccer/football just isn’t my thing.
I’m sure American football isn’t high on your list.
To each his own ;)
