I believe that Michael never was at peace. He
reminds me of Elvis in that both were self destructive.
The real tragedy was his pedophilic activities. No one in the MSM held him accountable for his actions and that
is unforgivable.
It seemed to me that his music was directed at the early teen set. None of his music was adult-centered , and I'm not a fan of dancing pop stars anyway. So Jackson's appeal to me was zero. His death didn't affect me any more than Ed McMahon's death. What I really objected to the most was the lack of coverage of major news yesterday. I guess the big thinkers at the various news channels, including FOX, thought that the great majority of Americans were deeply affected by his death and didn't want to hear about the far more important world events. We have major events going on in Iran and elsewhere, and they choose wall-to-wall coverage of Jackson's death. That irritated me to no end.
Are people really this solipsistic? He was one of the biggest public figures of the modern era and sold more records than anyone else in history. Of course there's a lot of public interest in his story. But of course none of that matters because you didn't like him and the job of the media is to cater specifically to your personal interests.

I agree. It was very disappointing that the media gave Jackson non-stop coverage. There are way too many important things going on today for that. Fox should get a thrashing of e-mails for that. I am tired of celebrity worship by the news media. Jackson certainly dosen’t deserve it and nor do many others as well.

That is probally so he could remember what he looked like being how freakingly he changed his appearence during the last ten years or so.
I guarantee you most people over fifty cared little about Jackson's life. I didn't know one friend who admitted to liking much less buying any of his music. In short, his career mattered very little to me and people my age (over fifty) and older. He sold millions of records? So have countless less talented (or no talented people and groups, Eminem, etal). Because you thought he was important doesn't make him important. His music is mostly forgettable. And no, I didn't care much for Elvis either.
He sure was very obsessive about every square millimeter of his face. More than any person I can think of.
Michael Jackson really touched me when i was a kid....

If anything, Michael Jackson’s life, not his death, was tragic....
I feel sympathy for Jackson’s family and friends who understandably mourn him. But I can't bring myself to mourn him any more than I mourn the random dead I read about in the paper everyday. Indeed, I confess to mourning him less.
Every channel says this is a sad day for America. I agree. But not for the same reasons.
This will knock the Gov. Mark Sanford fiasco off the front page. I’m sure the propaganda press and the DU trolls at FR had planned a two week long bash-fest. The untimely death of Mr. Jackson saves the republican party from embarrassing itself with whining, nation-wide mea culpas and beating itself over the head before the cameras, as planned by the liberal fascists.
RIP, Mr. Jackson. You did well.
The paradigm of excessively positive regard for celebrities will probably be finished within three years, especially in politics.
