Any local news?
,,, I haven't got a clue what happens in NZL - I'm tuned to FOX NEWS and CNBC BUSINESS when the TV's on. It's all wall to wall Michael Jackson here at the moment.
Well he was the most famous living person.Certainly after Princess Diana died. Like Chaplin was at his peak. It’s a level of fame achieved before the fragmentation of the media. We won’t see something like it happen again.
“I just heard his death compared to John F. Kennedy! What???”
Not his death....that was speculation as to what his funeral/media coverage will be like.
Harry Chapin’s death hit me in the gut.
There is no denying that Michael Jackson had a gift from God. That gift died long ago.
I am ambivelent about Michael Jackson’s death. My heart breaks for his kids, I am sure his family is heartbroken. Newsworthy, yes. Deserving 24/7 coverage? Not in my opinion.
Yep, you said it and it is ongoing.
Brits hosted one of my visits to the UK. They has a velvet Elvis hanging on the stairwell of their home. LOL!
Oh, please we all know Mr. Sanctimonious is perfect and the beloved of the Lord. Just ask and he’ll tell you.
Last night’s Obama show was a bomb - no one watched. Tonight was supposed to be an opportunity for the other stations to tear Obamacare apart. Now - all we get in 24-7 Michael Jackson. This is ridiculous.
Yeah, I watched Sharpton for about 2 minutes...isnt he supposed to be in Bermuda?
There’s a lost in the triangle joke there somewhere
Heart Attack due to drugs!!!!!
I guess now his kids can go back to their mother and not wear surgical masks in public.
Michael Jackson’s passing is kind of like the Elvis or Princess Diana moment in time. He was iconic. One of those rare humans who had that ‘it’ quaility’ that you can’t explain (away from the the talent that propels them into the spotlight initially).
He was also very troubled and very fragile. I remember reading (long ago) that his dad (the uber authorative Joe Jackson) called him ‘Big Nose’ could he have been looking for consolation in multiple plastic surgeries. To be the ‘front’ man performer for his family (the family coming from poverty to success) at such a young age must have caused a level of stress and responsibility for others...that, not dismissing the charges against him, certainly explains his ‘arrested development’ and constant seeking of his own lost childhood.
Sad. G-dspeed Michael, rest in peace.
Your list is impressive, but you missed a biggie: Ella Fitzgerald.
Debbie Rowe would have to sue to get custody, and it wouldn't look so good for her since she relinquished custody of the first two to Michael years ago when they were small. This is going to be worse than the Dannielyn thing, and the non-stop coverage will help the Democrat usurpers immensely.
My ex-MIL was a huge Elvis and actually met him personally one time. She had one of those velvet things hanging in her living room. So tacky. I wonder which of the kids she willed it to.
Her license plates read: ELVIS
For Christmases at her house we had to listen to Elvis albums. Drove me crazy as I'm not fan of his music.
Barry will not be digging this constant coverage about Michael Jackson...expect him to issue an executive order tomorrow.
The only thing worse than Rev. Al hogging the microphone was cameras providing the media coverage for his soapbox.
I heard he choked on a bad weenie.
Barry will no doubt come out as a HUGH and SERIES Michael Jackson fan. After he tells us how he had Farrah Fawcett’s poster in his bedroom in his grandparent’s Hawaii home...the same room that he watched Ed McMahon on the Tonight Show every night.
Sigh.
