MAUMELLE, Ark. – Cecil Max Goeldner, 75, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, with visitation 10 a.m. until service time.

He was born July 3, 1937, in Butler County, to Cecil B. and Hazel Maxine MacKay Goeldner. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Maumelle, and lead guitarist of The Grandpas.

He was a retired Boeing employee, a co-founder of Data Center Inc. in Kansas, and Pacesetter in Michigan, and was a computer systems analyst for Systematics and Alltel.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Donna Elaine Goeldner.

Survivors include wife, Virginia (Dunham) Goeldner of Maumelle; daughter, Layla Cecil Goeldner of Saudi Arabia; son, Kevin Blake Goeldner of Aledo, Texas; grandchildren, Nadia, Maria, Dania, Abdulrahman, Omar, Grace and Seth; great-grandchildren, Abdullah, Jena, Adam, Tariq and Sami.

Goeldner said her sister-in-law actually raised Barrack Obama, or Barry as they called him, when he was young, after his mother died in 1970.
