Surely you must be joking.
Why would I be kidding? He’s term-limited anyway, he’s gone in January 2011. I don’t know whether they could make any impeachable charges stick on him. The guy who would take over for him isn’t exactly impressive (Andre Bauer, who was one of the two bigwigs pushing this story into the public eye). The General Assembly might try and impeach him, but I’d be surprised if they could convict and remove him. If he doesn’t want to go, I think he’s there until the end of his second term—damaged, lame-duck, and disgraced, certainly, but still there.
I’m not saying he shouldn’t resign, BTW. I’d just as soon he did.
