Maybe the Ancient Chinese were on to something when they made their rulers eunuchs. I would bet that any politician willing to loose their manhood to serve the public good would have enough “cajones” to actually make the right decisions.

I think it reflects on the type of people that are drawn to go into politics in our present time.

The people who go into it are often narcissists and love the worship they get - they do it for the ego buzz, not service to their state or country. This easily translates into affairs which give them even more ego stroking.

Meanwhile, the honest, sane, non-egomaniacal people who would make good public servants and are interested in actually improving things take one look at the vipers nest of boasting clowns in the gov’t (at all levels) and say “nah... not worth the hassle”.
