Good advice. He seemed like a stand-up guy, but I waited to hear what happened at the presser.

Something sounded fishy to me and I suspected a mistress, but you never know with these things. I also thought he might have gotten some earth-shattering news like a cancer diagnosis.

Exactly. Nobody here knew what was up for sure. What if it had been something like that ? When my father’s ex was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she got on a plane right after leaving from the doctor’s office and flew off to Hawaii. Would the apologies have come forth from all the people suspecting the worst if it turned out he had been similarly diagnosed ? I doubt it. I apologized to folks for being wrong about him with respect to his adultery, but I don’t apologize for defending against a lynch mob mentality. Even after the fact, way too many people around here taking a holier-than-thou attitude in continuing the attacks when they certainly aren’t entitled to it. People in glass houses, as they say...
