Berkeley is so left-wing that when 7th- and 8th-graders at an expensive prestigious private school are asked to design their own tiles for a permanently displayed mosaic, they draw a big hammer-and-sickle and declare as their message to the world, Capitalism will fail.
The communist message is part of a school mosiac for the Class of 2007 at Black Pine Circle School, which has a reputation as one of the best private K-8 schools in the city. (Most of the other tiles in the mosaic are what you typically might expect from 13- and 14-year-olds: declarations of friendship and personal messages that are generally inscrutable to adults.)

Find a way to take the profit out of those endeavors and you'll have gone a long way to defeating the Left.
Isn’t that a dead fish as well, intended as an insult to Christianity?

Diversity Committee was created in 1996 to address issues of inclusion and equanimity in education. The committee is made up of parents, faculty, administrators and board members of the school. The goals of the committee are far-reaching and include curriculum development, community partnerships and teacher training.
The mission of BPC outreach is to create an inclusive community across class, race, family type and background. To this end, increasing diversity in our student body has been a main priority. The school conducts outreach to under-served populations through attendance at local fairs and open houses. Parents also do their own outreach and network to link families across communities . The Diversity Committee meets monthly to plan school-related and outreach events that support its stated mission. Additionally, the committee sponsors two free school-wide events: BPC Family International Potluck and BPC Film Night. (see Events below)
Please contact Paul Kranz for more information.
Mission Statement of the Diversity Committee:
"The Black Pine Circle Diversity Committee works to support the mission of the school. We believe that diversity promotes important values within our community and prepares students for citizenship in a pluralistic world. In order to achieve continued academic excellence and sustain a vibrant educational environment, the Committee seeks to recognize and draw on the talents of a diverse background of faculty, staff and students, fostering the free expression and sharing of ideas, perspectives and beliefs that promote cultural understanding, tolerance and social justice.
The Committee seeks to promote the diversity represented in the Bay Area in its student body by actively supporting the recruitment and retention of socio-economically disadvantaged and underrepresented minority students. The Committee values and seeks the hiring and retention of teachers and staff of different racial, cultural and economic backgrounds, sexual orientation and disability status. The Committee seeks to promote the thoughtful examination of cultural distinctions by supporting curricula that prepare students to be culturally competent members of society.
100% commie barf.
They probably have several. After all, the elites don’t want their children to mingle with the unwashed masses except on TV. Some of the wealthiest along the North Shore of Chicago’s suburbs are flaming liberals, many are trust fund kids (i.e. Bill Ayers) who have never really worked hard in their life.
Exactly the situation in Belgium going on now...here are a couple of informative links substantiating your thoughts:

They should try something really challenging:
“Dare to be Normal”
These idiots don’t realize that capitalism is what allows them to go to private school.
Considering Berkeley is not even ranked very or most competitive and for many years not even a competitive institution, it isn’t any proud distinction to have matriculated from Berkeley. Stanford, (that junior University) on the other side of the bay, however, is an honorable institution to have on one’s CV.
Grades K-5.......$15,400
Grades 6-8........$17,100
To the nimrod who drew the crossed out dollar sign under the hammer and sickle, here's what you 'commie' parents are paying your doofus school.
It is an interesting read especially when you consider that what happened in the 70’s at the Peoples temple seems to be the same scenario only on the national level in ‘09. It hit me with the smallest of detail-when Brian Williams bowed at the President. It wasn’t so much bow, it was the look on his face. Chilling. And apparently the kids at Berkeley and elsewhere will follow suit.
Yuri Bezmenov pointed out in the ‘80’s that Marxist takeovers start by controlling the schools and the media. I’d say they have been very successful and that we are way beyond the point of saving our republic through the ballot box.
Any questions why Californias’s state flag has a red star on it?
Hey! Watch it! There are some Golden Bears around here!
Berkeley is a great school, and my alma mater. True, it has its, ahem, colorful aspects, but a lot of top flight business people and engineers still graduate from there, as well as a notable contingent of conservatives in various other majors. The Federalist Society chapter at the law school was founded in the late 1980s. Until informed otherwise, I’m going to assume it’s still there, along with several conservative law professors. Also, what many people don’t realize is that, a notable number of rural Northern Californians go there, and they are salt-of-the-earth people.
Stanford, I read recently, had some ridiculous number, like 2, members of the faculty, who were not Democrats. You’re paying a lot of money for all that group-think, over there.
Berkeley isn’t cheap any more, either, but not as expensive as Stanford. If you’re going to get silly extremists either way, why pay more for it?
Dude. The City of Berkeley is full of leftist retards. And the University of California, like most American universities, has a left-leaning faculty and administration. But it is a plain fact that Cal is very highly ranked and is very competitive.
There is no "University of Berkeley." There is the University of California at Berkeley.
I bet these spoiled little bastards have no freaking clue of Russia’s history or how many people died because of communism.
If you're referring to UC Berkeley, it was ranked No. one in physics and the life sciences when I attended (1967-1972).
How about your Alma Mater?
ping for later

True, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon, and especially not under the current administration.
