The celestial clock is ticking and its almost midnight.

For those who believe in the Biblical end-times prophecies, you all know about THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION.

You also know that for this to happen The Temple would have to be rebuilt, right? Well there is serious talk of it now. There have been several related stories on in lately. Here is one. I read a very interesting theory as to why the Romans took the 2nd Temple apart stone by stone. Christ foretold that not one stone would rest upon another there in Mark 3:12.

"Do you see all these great buildings?" replied Jesus. "Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."

There are some accounts that the Roman generals ordered that the Temple be sparred. There is conjecture that Roman soldiers (drunk? in a rage?) defied the orders and set fire to the Temple. The problem was - there was 24 carat gold all through the Temple.

There is archaeological evidence of a great fire in its spot. That fire would have turned the Temple into a furnace, and all of the gold would have melted into the crevices.

The Roman soldiers needed that gold as part of their war booty, so they literally tore the Temple apart to get it.

Wikipedia? or another source said that the Colosseum in Rome was paid for in part with booty from the Temple.
